Lannea coromandelica (Houtt.) Merr.: A Comprehensive Review of Its Ethnomedicinal Uses, Phytochemistry and Pharmacological Activity

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Lannea coromandelica (Houtt.) Merr., a deciduous tropical tree of the Anacardiaceae family, is traditionally used in Asian ethnomedicine to treat diabetes, skin diseases, ulcers, inflammation, and microbial infections. This review aims to consolidate current knowledge on its ethnomedicinal applications, phytochemistry ...

Host–parasite oxidative arms race: who will win?

open access: yesJournal of Avian Biology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, January 2026.
Avian haemosporidian parasites are globally widespread with a broad repertoire of hosts. When infected, the host can either reduce (resistance) and/or limit the severity of parasitaemia (tolerance). Oxidative stress plays a pivotal role in the host's resistance and tolerance, as well as its detrimental endpoints.

Comprehensive analysis of molecular markers linked to antimalarial drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum in Northern, Northeastern and Eastern Uganda

open access: yesMalaria Journal
Background In Uganda, antimalarial resistance in Plasmodium falciparum poses serious public health and treatment challenges. Globally, recent data have highlighted the roles of following genes in malaria resistance: Plasmodium falciparum dihydrofolate ...

Chronic Infection by Plasmodium falciparum

open access: yesCureus
Malaria by Plasmodium falciparum (P. falciparum) usually does not exceed one year, but chronic infection, although rare, is a possibility. We present the clinical case of a 37-year-old male who came to the emergency department with intermittent fever, chills, and malaise. He had malaria more than 1 year ago while working in Huíla province, Angola.

Detergents alter the stability and lipid binding properties of the CD1d immunoreceptor

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract CD1d, a non‐classical immunoreceptor, plays a central role in lipid antigen presentation to a variety of T cell types. Despite the widespread use of detergents to measure and manipulate lipid/CD1d interactions in vitro, in situ, and in vivo, the molecular basis by which detergents influence the stability of CD1d and its lipid binding ...

Is Toxoplasma gondii‐secreted Protein With an Altered Thrombospondin Repeat (TgSPATR) a Potential Candidate for Immunisation? An Immunoinformatics‐Based Analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Toxoplasma gondii‐secreted protein with an altered thrombospondin repeat was computationally characterised as an immunogenic, non‐allergenic protein carrying multiple B‐ and T‐cell epitopes. Structural validation and immune simulation suggest its strong potential as a vaccine candidate against toxoplasmosis.
