Multispectral Plasmon Induced Transparency in Coupled Meta-Atoms

Nano Letters, 2011
We introduce an approach enabling construction of a scalable metamaterial media supporting multispectral plasmon induced transparency. The composite multilayered media consist of coupled meta-atoms with radiant and subradiant hybridized plasmonic modes interacting through the structural asymmetry.

Phase-Coupled Plasmon-Induced Transparency

Physical Review Letters, 2010
We demonstrate the existence of electromagnetically-induced-transparency (EIT-)like spectral response in a system of nanoscale plasmonic resonator antennas coupled by means of a single-mode silicon waveguide. Our proposed scheme exploits the phase of the coupling between the antennas in contrast with the existing plasmonic approaches that rely on the ...

Plasmon-induced-transparency in subwavelengthstructures

Optics & Laser Technology, 2013
Abstract The slow light technology prompts the realization of the all-optical storage, by which one can store the information of different wavelengths at their corresponding locations. In this paper, we made a brief review of plasmon-induced-transparency (PIT) in subwavelength structures.

Broadband plasmon induced transparency in terahertz metamaterials

Nanotechnology, 2013
Plasmon induced transparency (PIT) could be realized in metamaterials via interference between different resonance modes. Within the sharp transparency window, the high dispersion of the medium may lead to remarkable slow light phenomena and an enhanced nonlinear effect.

Induced transparency in nanoscale plasmonic resonator systems

Optics Letters, 2011
An optical effect analogous to electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) is observed in nanoscale plasmonic resonator systems. The system consists of a slot cavity as well as plasmonic bus and resonant waveguides, where the phase-matching condition of the resonant waveguide is tunable for the generation of an obvious EIT-like coupled resonator ...

Polarization-independent plasmon-induced transparency for plasmonic sensing

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2011
We design a three-dimensional structure consisting of cross-slit metallic photonic crystals and dielectric photonic crystals embedded in a background material to achieve electromagnetically induced transparency for TE/TM polarization modes. Numerical simulation demonstrates that the mechanism of this phenomenon is based on the coupling effect between ...

Polarization-controlled dynamically switchable plasmon-induced transparency in plasmonic metamaterial

Nanoscale, 2018
We propose a metamaterial to realize dynamically controllable PIT effect. Simply by changing the polarization direction of incident light, the number of PIT transparency windows can be increased from 1 to 2, accompanied with tunable amplitude and switchable resonance-wavelength.

New Regime of Plasmonically Induced Transparency

Plasmonics, 2015
Electromagnetically induced transparency is a phenomenon that drastically alters light-matter interactions such that an optically opaque medium becomes transparent. To date, it is widely accepted that broken symmetry is a necessary and sufficient condition for the realization of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in nano-plasmonic ...

Plasmon-exciton self-induced transparency

Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 2011
The possibility of forming stable bound plasmon-polariton states in an extended metallic cylinder surrounded by a two-level medium has been investigated. The dynamics of plasmons is described in the hydrodynamic approximation. It has been shown that the equations of motion of charge-density bunches and the Bloch equations for the two-level medium are ...

Plasmon-induced transparency effect in terahertz metamaterials

Tenth International Symposium on Ultrafast Phenomena and Terahertz Waves (ISUPTW 2021), 2021
With strong optical response from subwavelength metamaterial structures in terahertz, plasmon-induced transparency (PIT) has attracted considerable attention in terahertz modulators and biosensing devices. Here, we tune PIT effect by the destructive interference of two bright modes.
