The plastic bag: forever and ever [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The plastic bag’s primary function is to contain, and contain it will with an unmatched resilience. After it has taken its first breath by the cashier of a grocery store, when left to its own devices, the plastic bag will contain the currents of the wind

Can Stated Preference Methods Accurately Predict Responses to Environmental Policies? The Case of a Plastic Bag Regulation in China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This study investigates the validity of using stated preference (SP) estimates to predict policy effects on plastic bag consumption. Before implementation of a plastic bag regulation, when bags were still free of charge, we utilized an SP survey to ...

An Integrated Oxygen‐Supplying Device and Predictive Multiphysics Model for Extended Ambient Transport of Insulin‐Producing Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.

In Situ Interfacial Assembly of Dynamic Semi‐Interpenetrating Biopolymer Networks for Robust and Mechanically Adaptive Droplet Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dynamic interfacial semi‐interpenetrating polymer network is constructed by sequential assembly of β‐sheet‐rich SF and CS‐RL. The SF framework provides mechanical strength, while dynamically associated CS‐RL enables local rearrangement, allowing droplets to rapidly reconfigure without loss of interfacial integrity.

Architected Bio‐Based Iontronic Skin With Dual‐Mode Pressure and Strain Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based acrylates in combination with an ionic liquid create 3D‐printed ionogels with compositionally tuneable mechanics and ionic conductivity. Gyroid architectures amplify low‐pressure sensitivity while preserving robust strain sensing, enabling dual‐mode detection of pressure and deformation.
