All fiber N×N fused tapered plastic optical fiber (POF) power splitters for photodynamic therapy applications

Abstract We fabricated various types of plastic optical fiber (POF) fused taper N × N splitters (N = 4, 6, 8, 10, 20, 30, and 60). Inert gas was electrically heated and injected through a nozzle to provide an oxygen-free hot zone to process PMMA POF fused taper.

Beyond 100 Gb/s Transmission over Graded-Index Plastic Optical Fiber (GI-POF) Links

We present a power-variable-rate-adaptive LDPC-coded-OFDM scheme, suitable for communication over GI-POF-links. We demonstrate that channel-capacity can be closely approached with proposed scheme. We show that transmission at 100Gb/s over 500m of perfluorinated-GI-POF-links can be achieved.

The improvement in modulation speed of GaN-based Green light-emitting diode (LED) by use of n-type barrier doping for plastic optical fiber (POF) communication

Fabrication of a Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) by Using Direct Core Solution Injection (DCSI)

Direct core solution injection (DCSI) into the hole of a cladding preform formed by polymerization of the cladding solution was proposed for making the nonlinear POF. The preform of the ber was pulled into the ber following polymerization of core solution.

The Rebirth of Large-Core Plastic Optical Fibers: Some Recent Results from the EU Project "POF-ALL"

Within the EU project POF-ALL, we designed a fast Ethernet media-converter for 1 mm plastic optical fiber. Equalization techniques allowed a record link of 275m, a capability that encourages POF's use for in-building and in-apartment networks.
