Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

A programming approach to the solution of problems involving elastic-plastic plates
Bibliography: leaves 84-88.An extended kinematic minimum principle in classical plasticity is used as the basis for the finite element formulation of the rate problem for elastic-plastic plates. A simple algorithm is used to solve the resulting quadratic

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Dynamic Shear Deformation in Zinc Crystals [PDF]
The initial stages of yielding in single crystals of zinc have been investigated at temperatures of -292°F (-180°C), -93°F (-70°C) and +75°F (24°C), by means of rapidly applied constant stress pulses to produce slip along the basal planes of these ...
