Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Experimental Study and Numerical Analysis of the Influence of Cyclic Loading on the Cement Sheath Sealing Performance

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2021
In order to accurately quantify the influence of cyclic loading on the cementing performance of cement sheath, core stress-strain test of set cement under the action of high-temperature triaxial cyclic loading is carried out based on the actual situation

A bodner-partom visco-plastic dynamic sphere benchmark problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Developing benchmark analytic solutions for problems in solid and fluid mechanics is very important for the purpose of testing and verifying computational physics codes. Our primary objective in this research is to obtain a benchmark analytic solution to

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Creep recovery and stress relaxation tests of 6061-0 aluminum [PDF]

open access: yes
The investigation of creep recovery and stress relaxation in aluminum using a closed loop servo-hydraulic test system is described. The practicality of a computer controlled test system for constant plastic strain rate tension tests is demonstrated.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Effect of machined surface condition on fatigue strength of Ni based superalloy Alloy718 (2nd report, investigation of the residual stress relaxation using crystal plasticity FEM)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
In this study, the effect of machined surface layer on residual stress relaxation was investigated. In previous study, low cycle fatigue strength was affected by residual stress.

Material plastic properties characterization using a generic algorithm and finite element method modelling of the plane-strain small punch test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, a novel plane strain small punch test (SPT) method is proposed for material plastic properties characterization. The plane strain SPT is different from the standard SPT in the two ways: (a) a long thin rectangular specimen (with dimensions

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.
