Deformation and Vibration of a Platanus Acerifolia Tree Leaf in Wind

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
The behavior of a twig‐connected leaf in wind was investigated. With the variation of wind speed in the range of 0.7‐11.5 m/s, the leaf experienced different patterns of deformation or vibration, and abrupt changes from one pattern to another occurred at critical wind speeds.

Urbanisation induces early flowering: evidence from Platanus acerifolia and Prunus cerasus

International Journal of Biometeorology, 2009
The effect of towns on plant phenology, i.e. advancement of spring development compared with a rural environment, via the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon, has been shown for many towns in many countries. This work combines experimental and observational methodology to provide a better and deeper view of climatic habitat in an urban context with a ...

Failure of forks in clonal varieties ofPlatanusxacerifolia

Arboricultural Journal, 2012
Established plantings of clonal London Planes (Platanus x acerifolia (Aiton) Willd.) in Bristol city centre have suffered such a high proportion of failures at their forks and branch junctions that many semi-mature trees have been removed on the grounds of safety.

Regulation of alternative splicing of PaFT and PaFDL1, the FT and FD homologs in Platanus acerifolia

Gene, 2022
Alternative splicing (AS) selects different alternative splice sites and produces a variety of transcripts with different exon/intron combinations, which may result in multiple protein isoforms. The splicing signals include cis-elements and RNA structures; however, the mechanisms of AS regulation in plants have yet to be elucidated.

Identification of Pla a 7 as a novel pollen allergen group in Platanus acerifolia pollen

International Immunopharmacology, 2023
Platanus acerifolia is recognized as a source of allergenic pollen worldwide. Currently, five Platanus acerifolia pollen allergens belonging to different protein families have been identified, in which profilin and enolase were characterized by our group recently.

PaMYB82 from Platanus acerifolia regulates trichome development in transgenic Arabidopsis

Plant Science, 2019
The control of epidermal cell fate is an elaborate molecular process mediated by the TTG1-bHLH-MYB regulatory complex. In this study, we isolated PaMYB82 from London plane. PaMYB82 was revealed to be a nuclear-localized transcription activator and was found to be expressed ubiquitously in the tissues of roots, stems, leaves, cotyledons and hypocotyls ...

Further non-polar flavonols from Platanus acerifolia buds

Phytochemistry, 1990
Abstract Three further flavonols have been identified from buds of Platanus acerifolia . Separations were made by column chromatography on polyamide and Sephadex LH20 as well as centrifugal TLC on silica gel and reversed phase HPLC. Structural elucidation of the peracetylated derivatives was achieved mainly by 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy.

Chemical Constituents with Immunological Activities from the Barks of Platanus acerifolia

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 2014
Platanus acerifolia (Aiton) Willd. (Platanaceae) is a hybrid of P. orientalis and P. occidentalis. P. acerifolia is highly resistant to powdery mildew and atmospheric contamination, so it is often used for landscaping and street planting. P. acerifolia was also used to treat toothache, dysentery and diarrhea in folk medicine and has rich resources ...

Assessing the impact of street lighting on Platanus x acerifolia phenology

Urban Forestry & Urban Greening, 2018
Autumn phenology is an important part of the tree growing season that is still poorly understood. In addition to the environmental factors that might affect its timing, there are artificial effects introduced by modern society that could interfere with it, such as the increasing use of artificial light to illuminate urban nights.

Further Acylated Kaempferol Rhamnosides from Platanus acerifolia Buds

Journal of Natural Products, 1993
The EtOAc extract of fresh Platanus acerifolia buds afforded a mixture of two new acylated flavonol monoglycosides. Separations were achieved by cc on polyamide and Sephadex LH-20 as well as by centrifugal tlc on Si gel and reversed-phase hplc. Structural elucidations were performed by uv, 1 H nmr, and ms.
