Ultrasound Biomicroscopy in Plateau Iris Syndrome

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1992
Ultrasound biomicroscopy is a new technique that uses high-frequency ultrasound (50 to 100 MHz) to produce images of the entire anterior segment at high resolution (20 to 50 microns). The iridocorneal angle, iris, ciliary body, and posterior chamber can be imaged in detail and the dimensions and anatomic relationships of these structures determined ...

High Prevalence of Plateau Iris Configuration in Family Members of Patients With Plateau Iris Syndrome

Journal of Glaucoma, 2006
The purpose of the study was to ascertain the prevalence of plateau iris syndrome in the first-degree relatives of those patients affected with plateau iris syndrome. All patients seen with plateau iris syndrome over a 5-year period were identified. These patients were approached for participation and first-degree family members above 18 years of age ...

Potential utility of anterior segment optical coherence tomography and biometry in differentiating plateau iris configuration from pupillary block

Clinical and experimental optometry
Clinical relevance Angle closure glaucoma is one of the most common blinding diseases encountered mainly in older age groups, although it may also occur at a younger age.

Juvenile Iridoschisis and Incomplete Plateau Iris Configuration

Journal of Glaucoma, 2015
Iridoschisis is a rare condition in which there is localized cleavage of the iris stroma into 2 layers. It can be associated with plateau iris and more often with either angle closure or open-angle glaucoma. It usually presents in later life as a bilateral progressive condition, however, in this article we present a young adult with bilateral ...

Pseudo-plateau iris secondary to multiple peripheral pigment epithelial cysts: A case report

Global Journal of Cataract Surgery and Research in Ophthalmology
Iris epithelial cysts are rare, spontaneous, epithelium-lined spaces that arise from the iris-pigmented epithelial layer and ciliary body and can cause a narrowing of the anterior chamber angle leading to a pseudo-plateau iris configuration (PPI).

Argon Laser Iridoplasty For Plateau Iris Syndrome: Long-Term Outcomes of 48 Eyes

Journal of glaucoma, 2019
Precis: Argon laser peripheral iridoplasty (ALPI) was performed on 48 eyes with plateau iris syndrome (PIS). Indentation gonioscopy was used to monitor the opening of the iridocorneal angle.

Plateau Iris and Severity of Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2020
To compare the distribution of plateau iris in eyes across varying severity of primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) using standardized ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) criteria.Cross-sectional study.UBM was performed on 210 patients with PACG who had previously undergone laser peripheral iridotomy.

Association of Retinopathy of Prematurity and Plateau iris

Journal of Glaucoma, 2019
We present a case series describing a unique entity as it relates to plateau iris. There have been many established risk factors for plateau iris, but we present the following cases that describe patients with plateau iris in the setting of prematurity and/or retinopathy of prematurity as well as high myopia or emmetropia.

Plateau iris syndrome.

Transactions. Section on Ophthalmology. American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, 1977
Eight cases of the plateau iris syndrome are presented. The "plateau iris syndrome" should be differentiated from the "plateau iris configuration." The "configuration" refers to a preoperative condition in which gonioscopically confirmed angle-closure glaucoma occurs, but the iris plane is flat and the anterior chamber is not shallow axially.

Iridociliary apposition in plateau iris syndrome persists after cataract extraction

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2003
To evaluate the ultrasound biomicroscopic appearance of the anterior segment before and after cataract extraction in eyes with plateau iris syndrome and to determine the effect of postoperative zonular relaxation on ciliary body position.Interventional case series.Eyes with plateau iris syndrome scanned before and after cataract extraction between ...
