Crystal Phase Dominance Over Structural Confinement of ZrO2 for Enhanced Polysulfide Immobilization in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 9, Issue 2, February 2026.
In this study, bulk monoclinic and confined cubic ZrO2 phases were synthesized. Density functional theory calculations showed that monoclinic ZrO2 exhibits stronger Li2S6 binding, which was validated via electrochemical tests highlighting its significantly improved battery performance.

Fluoroquinolone‐Associated Psychiatric and Ocular Adverse Events: A Disproportionality Analysis Using Real‐World Data From FAERS (2011–2024)

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 1, February 2026.
This pharmacovigilance study identifies a wide range of rapid‐onset neuropsychiatric and ocular adverse effects linked to fluoroquinolones (FQ). Disproportionality analysis revealed a disproportionate reporting of suicidal ideation and visual impairment following FQ treatment, emphasizing the urgent need for cautious prescribing and strengthened safety

Anomalous surface waves from Lop Nor nuclear explosions: Observations and numerical modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Surface waves from the Chinese test site of Lop Nor are analyzed using long-period and broadband stations located at regional and teleseismic distances and at different azimuths. For most azimuths, strong Love waves between 0.02 and 0.045 Hz are observed

Crustal Structure of Laurentia and Peri‐Gondwanan Terranes Beneath Ireland and Britain and Comparison With Eastern North America

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Appalachian‐Caledonian orogen was built during the Paleozoic by accretion of peri‐Gondwanan terranes onto Laurentia, culminating in the formation of Pangea. During the Mesozoic, Pangea broke apart, displacing one section of the belt to eastern North America and another to northwestern Europe.
