Partial characterization of the embryo-derived platelet-activating factor in mice.

open access: yesJournal of Reproduction and Fertility, 1985
The platelet-activating factor (PAF) produced by mouse embryos showed similar kinetics of action and dose-response curve, in a bioassay, as did 1-0-alkyl-2-acetyl-sn-glyceryl-3-phosphocholine (PAF-acether).

A Novel Protein‐Polysaccharide Oral Nanoemulsion Targeting Activated Hepatic Stellate Cells to Enhance the Therapeutic Effect of Pirfenidone on Fibrosis After Transarterial Chemoembolization for Liver Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) may aggravate liver fibrosis. In this study, a novel oral targeting nanoemulsion is fabricated to enhance the therapeutic effect of antifibrotic drug‐pirfenidone (PFD) on fibrosis after TACE. Studies have shown that PFD nanoemulsion can enhance the oral liver targeting effect of PFD, and effectively improve the ...

Circulating biologically active oxidized phospholipids show on-going and increased oxidative stress in older male mice

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2013
Background: The biologically active phospholipids Platelet-activating Factor (PAF) and oxidatively truncated phospholipids from chemical oxidation are increased in the circulation of rats subject to the oxidant stress of chronic ethanol ingestion ...

Macrophage VLDL Receptor Promotes PAFAH Secretion in Mother’s Milk and Suppresses Systemic Inflammation in Nursing Neonates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Mother’s milk is widely accepted as nutritious and protective to the newborn mammals by providing not only macronutrients but also immune-defensive factors. However, the mechanisms accounting for these benefits are not fully understood. Here we show that

Extracorporeal Catalytic Hemoperfusion Therapy for Refractory Septic Shock Using Ceria Nanoparticle‐Embedded Porous Microbeads

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an extracorporeal hemoperfusion system incorporating porous microbeads embedded with autocatalytic ceria nanoparticles (CeNPs) for targeted reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging in septic shock. The blood‐compatible hemoperfusion cartridge demonstrated significant improvements in survival, hemodynamic stability, and organ ...

Matrix Factorizations via the Inverse Function Theorem [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We give proofs of QR factorization, Cholesky's factorization, and LDU factorization using the inverse function theorem. As a consequence, we obtain analytic dependence of these matrix factorizations which does not follow immediately using Gaussian elimination.

Time‐Controlled Dual Targeting to Program Systemic and Intercellular Transfer of Therapeutic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aspirin‐liposomes loaded onto monocytes enable inflammation‐triggered targeting and efficient hand‐over of aspirin to inflamed cells. Monocytes uptake a significant portion of aspirin‐liposomes, prolonging therapeutic action. This approach enhances anti‐inflammatory effects through intercellular transfer, demonstrating a translational strategy for ...

On Pinsker factors for Rokhlin entropy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
In this paper we will prove that any dynamical system posess the unique maximal factor of zero Rokhlin entropy, so-called Pinsker factor. It is proven also, that if the system is ergodic and this factor has no atoms then system is relatively weakly mixing extension of its Pinsker factor.

Inhibition by cardiolipins of platelet‐activating factor‐induced rabbit platelet activation

open access: yesLipids, 1993
AbstractEvidence is presented that cardiolipin, a naturally occurring phospholipid, inhibits the aggregatory effect of platelet‐activating factor (paf) on rabbit plateletsin vitro. Bovine heart cardiolipin was shown to inhibit the aggregation of washed rabbit platelets induced by 1×10−10 M and 2×10−10 M paf with IC50 values (doses for half‐maximal ...
