Platelet aggregation by platelet-clumping substance

Thrombosis Research, 1974
Abstract The platelet-clumping substance isolated from rabbit plasma by the authors aggregated washed rabbit platelets, while ADP did not. The presence of AMP or adenosine did not inhibit the appearance of platelet aggregation induced by the clumping substance.

Histamine release by platelet aggregation [PDF]

open access: possibleAgents and Actions, 1990
Coincubation of rat serosal mast cells with human platelets leads to a significant release of histamine. which dose-dependently increases when platelet aggregation is induced by various concentrations of arachidonic acid. In turn, histamine enhances platelet aggregation induced by different agonists, this effect being mimicked by pyridyl-ethyl-amine ...

Platelet Aggregation Studies

2009
In vitro platelet aggregation (PAGG) testing measures the response of platelets to added aggregating agents, or agonists, with measurements that primarily reflect activation, aggregation and, with some instruments, secretion. Traditionally, PAGG has been tested by light-transmission aggregometry (LTA), which measures the change in optical density of ...

Platelet Aggregation: Methodology and Physiopathology

European Neurology, 1978
The physiopathological role of platelet aggregation in some thromboembolic and atherosclerotic complications is strongly suggested on the basis of many indirect findings. The qualitative methodological approach to this problem generally used until recently is rapidly giving way to a quantitative, biochemical approach.

Plasma platelet aggregating factor and platelet aggregation studies in pre‐eclampsia

Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 1996
Objective. A plasma platelet aggregating factor (PAF) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of platelet activation in thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) and hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Similar mechanism may be operative in pre‐eclampsia. Methods.

Platelet aggregation and platelet-inhibiting drugs

Neurochemical Pathology, 1987
Platelet function may cause a progression of central gray matter damage after cerebrospinal hemorrhage or trauma because of the thrombotic occlusion of injured vessels or a vasospasm induced by extravasated blood. It has therefore been suggested that antiplatelet drugs could limit the extent of the neurological lesions produced by a spinal trauma.

Methods for Platelet Aggregation

1972
The property of platelets to aggregate with appropriate stimuli is an essential feature of the haemostatic and thrombotic process. The study of aggregation in vitro has contributed much to our understanding of this process. The introduction of an absorptiometer (3, 20) together with continuous recording of the changes in optical density (10) have ...

Circulating platelet aggregates in glaucoma

International Ophthalmology, 1998
The aim of the study was to assess the role of circulating platelet aggregates (CPA) in advanced glaucoma.CPA was determined in vivo in 32 patients with advanced open-angle glaucoma accompanied by visual field loss, and in 20 healthy volunteers. The platelet aggregate ratio in glaucoma patients was significantly higher than those of normal controls (p =
