The CXCL5/CXCR2 axis directly inhibits ferroptosis in ICC cells by activating the NF‐κB/PTGS2 pathway. Meanwhile, the CXCL5/CXCR2 axis recruits N2 TANs, and the activated PTGS2 promotes the secretion of TNF‐α from the recruited N2 TANs via the CCL2/CCL7/CCR2 pathway, thereby activating the NF‐κB/PTGS2 axis and forming a positive feedback loop, which ...

A clinically translatable cell line can be engineered to produce leptin, encapsulated in biomaterial and safely implanted to produce and deliver the metabolic regulating protein within the body. Implantation of these encapsulated cells decreases the time it takes for mice and non‐human primates to adjust to circadian disruptions similar to those ...

Storage of Platelet Concentrates
Transfusion, 1976The American National Red Cross has initiated a cooperative clinical study designed to evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness of fresh platelets and platelets stored at 4 or 22 C for up to 72 hours. Preliminary results, in confirmation of earlier work, indicate an inverse relationship between platelet count and bleeding time in patients with ...

Quality of Platelet Concentrates
Immunological Investigations, 1995Despite the current emphasis in transfusion medicine on regulatory compliance and cost containment, there is continuing activity in quality improvement of blood products. Quality can be assessed by measuring both benefit and risk. High quality products are those in which the benefit is maximized and the risk minimized.

Platelet Activity in Washed Platelet Concentrates
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2004Life-threatening anaphylaxis or febrile nonhemolytic transfusion reactions after transfusion of platelet concentrates (PCs) is a serious clinical problem caused by the sensitizing of recipients to plasma components, such as immunoglobulin A, or by cytokines. There is a possible indication for washing of PCs in these thrombocytopenic patients.

Preparation of Platelet Concentrates
2011Platelets are specialized blood cells that play central roles in physiologic and pathologic processes of hemostasis, wound healing, host defense, thrombosis, inflammation, and tumor metastasis. Activation of platelets is crucial for platelet function that includes a complex interplay of adhesion, signaling molecules, and release of bioactive factors ...

Effects of high platelet concentration in collecting and freezing dry platelets concentrates
Transfusion and Apheresis Science, 2004To evaluate, in vitro, the effects of collecting and cryopreserving fresh dry platelet concentrates (PCs).Standard and dry PCs were collected in the same apheresis procedure. PCs were evaluated by mean platelet volume (MPV), pH, glucose and LDH levels.

Bacterial proliferation in platelet concentrates
Transfusion, 1986ABSTRACT: Growth curves of bacteria in platelet concentrates were studied to determine whether increasing the shelf‐life of platelets from 3 to 7 days might have contributed to the increased number of deaths caused by contaminated platelets that have been reported to the FDA since 1980.
