High on Treatment Platelet Reactivity

Heart, Lung and Circulation, 2012
The addition of clopidogrel to aspirin for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) had significantly reduced cardiovascular events. However, despite dual antiplatelet therapy ischaemic events still occur, especially stent thrombosis, which is associated with a high mortality rate.

Platelet reactivity, fibrinogen and smoking

European Journal of Haematology, 1987
40 young healthy male volunteers (20 habitual smokers and 20 non‐smokers) were investigated with respect to platelet reactivity, plasma fibrinogen and coagulation factor VIII. Smokers had significantly lower systolic blood pressures and higher venous platelet counts.

Dietary Flavanols and Platelet Reactivity

Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 2006
Epidemiology studies suggest that the consumption of diets rich in flavonoids is associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. Plant-derived foods and beverages, such as red wine, tea, grape and grape juice, cocoa and chocolate, can be rich in 1 particular class of flavonoid, the flavan-3-ols.

Nutritional zinc increases platelet reactivity

American Journal of Hematology, 1991
AbstractAfter ingestion of 220 mg zinc sulfate, platelet aggregation was evaluated at various time intervals (i.e., T = 0, 1, and 3 hr) and the autologous plasma analyzed by atomic absorption analysis. The zinc levels increased maximally some 0.4 ± 0.2 μg/ml within 3 hr after ingestion, which tor the entire blood pool corresponds to only 5% of the ...

Platelet reactivity in MitraClip patients

Vascular Pharmacology, 2016
Common complications during MitraClip procedure are bleeding and ischemic events. The right strategy of platelet inhibition is unknown and challenging, as there are substantial interindividual response-variabilities to antiplatelet drugs and additionally, many MitraClip patients are on permanent oral anticoagulation because of atrial fibrillation.

Platelet reactivity and pregnancy loss

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2010
We sought to critically evaluate platelet function in recurrent miscarriage (RM).We conducted a prospective study comparing 30 patients with unexplained recurrent first-trimester pregnancy loss with 30 control subjects matched for age and serum progesterone level.
