Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 1997Platelet transfusion recipients become alloimmunized to foreign HLA and HPA antigens, impairing their responses to further platelet transfusions (platelet transfusion refractoriness; PTR). Anti-HLA and HPA antibodies account for the majority of clinically significant alloimmunizations.
