Thrombocyte indices and plateletcrit in dogs with primary immune-mediated hemolytic anemia [PDF]

open access: yesMedycyna Weterynaryjna, 2019
Primary immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) is one of the most common autoimmune disorders in dogs. Platelet indices in dogs with IMHA have not been commonly used in daily clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to evaluate trombocyte indices, including platelet count (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPW), platelet size deviation width (PDW ...

D‐Allulose as a Low‐Calorie Sweetener: A 30‐Day Randomized, Double‐Blind Study on Gastrointestinal Tolerance and Systemic Safety to Support Its Application in Healthy Diets

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
This graphical abstract presents the key design and findings of a 30‐day trial evaluating the safety of fermented D‐allulose in healthy Chinese adults. Fifty eligible adults were randomized to receive either low‐dose (24 g/day, n = 24) or high‐dose (36 g/day, n = 26) D‐allulose for 30 days.

Utility of a Combined Diagnostic and Severity Scoring System Based on Complete Blood Count and Derived Immune‐Inflammatory Indicators in Children With Mycoplasma pneumoniae Pneumonia

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 13, July 2026.
This study developed a simple, low‐cost scoring system using routine complete blood count (CBC) and derived immune‐inflammatory indicators (LYM%, PLT, PCT, and PLT × LYM) for early diagnosis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) in 1662 children. Age‐stratified analysis confirmed that key indicators remained significantly higher in the pneumonia ...

Mean platelet volume level in patients with generalized anxiety disorder

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Psychopharmacology, 2018
OBJECTIVE: Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is characterized by persistent and chronic anxiety state. Stressful life events and anxiety usually cause an increase in platelet volume and activity through various mechanisms.

Reference intervals for platelet indices in seniors and frequency of abnormal results in a population-based setting: a comparison between directly and indirectly estimated reference intervals

open access: yesJournal of Laboratory Medicine, 2021
Mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), and plateletcrit (PCT) possess diagnostic and prognostic capabilities in a variety of diseases. We aimed to establish reference intervals (RI) for platelet indices (PI) in seniors.

Comparative Effects of Cigarette and Hookah Smoking on Oral Microbiota Composition and Blood Indices in Young Adult Males

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study examined 87 healthy young males to compare the effects of cigarette and hookah smoking on oral microbiota and hematological parameters. Cigarette smokers showed the highest oral bacterial load and greater colonization by Candida albicans and Gram‐positive cocci, while hookah smokers also exhibited elevated microbial levels.

Platelet‐Activating Factor Pathway in Women With Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease and Obesity

open access: yesObesity, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 1056-1067, May 2026.
Increased hepatic PAFR expression in MASLD is associated with histological disease severity and may contribute to progression through platelet activation, whereas circulating Lp‐PLA2 levels lack discriminatory value as a noninvasive biomarker. ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to investigate the platelet‐activating factor (PAF) pathway in obesity ...

Platelet indices and the risk of pulmonary arterial hypertension: a two-sample and multivariable Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundRecent epidemiological studies have indicated a correlation between platelet indices and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), yet the causality between them remains unclear. To explore the causal relationship between four platelet indices and
