Comparison of Different Plateletpheresis Systems
Important criteria for assessing a cell separator are thrombocyte yield, separation efficiency, and purity of the thrombocyte concentrates. Based on a Multicentric Counting Study, in which 12 centers participated, we conclude that it is very difficult to compare the results of the various centers in regard to the separation efficiency.

Automated cell count for blood component quality control
Abstract Background Accurate quantification of residual leukocytes (rWBC) and red blood cells (rRBC) in leukoreduced blood components is essential to ensure product quality and transfusion safety. Conventional manual flow cytometry techniques are time‐consuming and analyst‐dependent.

Machine and man individualities in apheresis adverse events
Background: Adverse events due to plateletpheresis are not unheard of, citrate-related reactions being the most common. Most of these events are mild and self-limiting. The current study describes adverse events in plateletpheresis using modern apheresis

Impairment of short-term memory associated with low iron stores in a volunteer multidose plateletpheresis donor [PDF]
A platelet donor may lose 80-100 mL of blood both in the harness and by blood sampling at each donation, the equivalent of four to five whole blood donations per annum for a donor attending at 2-weekly intervals.
