A New C0 2D Fe Model Based on Improved Higher Order Zigzag Theory for the Analysis of Soft Core Sandwich Plate

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2013
An efficient C 0 continuous finite element (FE) model is developed based on a combined theory (refine higher order shear deformation theory (RHSDT) and least square error (LSE) method) for the static analysis of a soft core sandwich plate.

Surface pressure effect on rivet-connected l-corner plates exposed to axial and flexural loadings

open access: yesEuropean Mechanical Science, 2022
In this study, the stress and deformation behavior of two I-corner plates with rivet connection in bending and tension were investigated. Pure bending and axial tension were applied at the end edge as the boundary condition and fixed support was defined ...

Plate mouse [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Orthopaedics and Trauma, 2013
Fracture shaft humerus when surgically fixed is known to go into non-union and one of the main reasons of this is implant failure. The causes of implant failure may lie in the fracture personality, faulty implant material or choice, dubious surgical technique & faulty mechanics of fixation.

Application of gradient elasticity to benchmark problems of beam vibrations

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2016
The gradient approach, specifically gradient elasticity theory, is adopted to revisit certain typical configurations on mechanical vibrations. New results on size effects and scale-dependent behavior not captured by classical elasticity are derived ...

Boundary value problems of integrodifferential equations under boundary conditions taking into account physical nonlinearity

open access: yesҚарағанды университетінің хабаршысы. Математика сериясы, 2023
When solving integrodifferential equations under boundary conditions, taking into account physical nonlinearity, a broad class of boundary-value problems of oscillations arises associated with various boundary conditions at the edges of a flat element ...

Exact 3D solutions and finite element 2D models for free vibration analysis of plates and cylinders

open access: yesCurved and Layered Structures, 2014
The paper proposes a comparison between classical two-dimensional (2D) finite elements (FEs) and an exact three-dimensional (3D) solution for the free vibration analysis of one-layered and multilayered isotropic, composite and sandwich plates and ...

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The plate-to-rod transition in trabecular bone loss is elusive

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2021
Changes in trabecular micro-architecture are key to our understanding of osteoporosis. Previous work focusing on structure model index (SMI) measurements have concluded that disease progression entails a shift from plates to rods in trabecular bone, but ...
