Combination of Morphometric and Morphological Analyses: An Effective Approach for the Study of Platynus from the Italian W Alps (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Platynini)

open access: yesDiversity, 2023
In the W Italian Alps, an area characterized by considerable environmental complexity, the widespread Platynus were studied by focusing on their species composition.

Agonum tulliae sp. n. from the Sila National Park (Calabria, southern Italy) (Coleoptera: Carabidae: Platynini)

open access: yesJournal of Entomological and Acarological Research, 2017
Agonum tulliae sp. n. is described from the Sila Massif upland in Calabria, Italy. This species is similar to Agonum (Olisares) sexpunctatum (Linné, 1758) as far as the external morphology is concerned, but it is easy to distinguish by the colour pattern,

How tectonic, volcanic and climatic processes in Andean ‘sky islands’ shaped the diversification of endemic ground beetles

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 49, Issue 11, Page 2077-2090, November 2022., 2022
Abstract Aim The Andean superpáramo ecosystem, above c. 4200 m a.s.l., currently forms an archipelago of isolated ‘sky islands’ which provides a unique setting to study biogeography. However, there is still a poor understanding of how past geological events, together with past climatic changes, have shaped the distribution of life in this ecosystem ...

Surface temperature and shrub cover drive ground beetle (Coleoptera: Carabidae) assemblages in short‐rotation coppices

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 23, Issue 4, Page 400-410, November 2021., 2021
Short‐rotation coppices shift carabid communities towards forest species assemblages, while decreasing species numbers and abundances of open habitat species. This leads to a decline in gamma diversity. We identified shrub cover and temperature as main environmental drivers for changes in species numbers, abundances and rarefied richness.
