A Modified Strain‐Wedge Model for Small Strain Rigid Piles in Sand

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
This paper develops a modified strain‐wedge (MSW) model within the small strain regime. The model developed is three times more accurate for predicting the pile rotation point and the maximum bending moment than previous models. However, FEA is more precise than the developed model when the strain enters the medium to large domain.

Prediction of Soil Liquefaction by Using UBC3D-PLM Model in PLAXIS

open access: yes, 2014
Liquefaction is a phenomenon in which the strength and stiffness of a soil is reduced by earthquake shaking or other rapid cyclic loading. Liquefaction and related phenomena have been responsible for huge amounts of damage in historical earthquakes around the world.

Numerical Simulation of Layered Compressible Soils’ Creep Deformation Under Monopile Foundation

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Creep deformation, a key issue in foundation stability, is a long‐term soil deformation that can cause significant damage and catastrophic failure to various structures. This numerical investigation aims to estimate the creep deformation variation of layered compressible soils under monopile foundation using the PLAXIS 3D analysis software. Accordingly,

Enhanced Stability and Liquefaction Resistance of Earth Dams With a Proposed Method of Geosynthetic Reinforcements

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study evaluates the static and seismic stability of the Narasimharaya Sagar (Gorukallu Balancing Reservoir) earthen dam, located in India’s seismically active Zone II. Using GeoStudio software, seepage, slope stability, and liquefaction analyses were conducted to assess the dam’s performance under static and dynamic conditions.
