Another Four Women: AfroCubana Entrepreneurs as Womanist Praxis

open access: yesThe Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology, Volume 31, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This article is focused on four Black women entrepreneurs in Cuba's lucrative bed and breakfast home‐based tourism economy, asking: (1) what intersectional factors facilitated their entrepreneurial enterprises, (2) how they conceptualize success, and (3) how their narratives illuminate patterns involving gendered race in the country's ...

Laguna Fuente de Piedra: An example of a dolomite factory recording ~50,000 years of depositional and paleoclimatic evolution

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
This study characterises carbonate mineral precipitation mechanisms and their paleoenvironmental implications in a semi‐arid, saline playa lake system. SEM image with EDS spectra shows microcrystalline, spherical shaped dolomite crystals from Laguna Fuente de Piedra composed of nanocrystals with bacterial voids and EPS.

Collectivity, chaos, and computers

open access: yes, 2003
Two important pieces of nuclear structure are many-body collective deformations and single-particle spin-orbit splitting. The former can be well-described microscopically by simple SU(3) irreps, but the latter mixes SU(3) irreps, which presents a ...

Microbial mediation and climatic control on dolomite precipitation in a hypersaline lake: Insights from Salinas Lake, southern Iberia

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
The cyclical nature of aridity and humidity led to the alternating deposition of dolomite‐rich and calcite‐rich sediments. During arid phases, the lake hydrology and growth of microbial mats under evaporative and hypersaline environment favors the precipitation of dolomite.

Environmental variables, habitat discontinuity and life history shaping the genetic structure of Pomatoschistus marmoratus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Coastal lagoons are semi-isolated ecosystems exposed to wide fluctuations of environmental conditions and showing habitat fragmentation. These features may play an important role in separating species into different populations, even at small spatial

Reconstructing Late Pleistocene to Prehistorical Holocene Geomagnetic Field Variations From La Palma Lava Flows (Canary Islands, Spain): Unraveling Viscous Components

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract We present new vector paleomagnetic data from 13 radiometrically dated lava‐flows in southern La Palma (Canary Islands) spanning from 1 to 56 ka, which covers most of the Late Pleistocene to prehistoric Holocene volcanic record in the island.

Analyses of Recent Sediment Surface Dynamic of a Namibian Kalahari Salt Pan Based on Multitemporal Landsat and Hyperspectral Hyperion Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
This study combines spaceborne multitemporal and hyperspectral data to analyze the spatial distribution of surface evaporite minerals and changes in a semi-arid depositional environment associated with episodic flooding events, the Omongwa salt pan ...
