Biomarkers of lung congestion and injury in acute heart failure
Abstract Acute heart failure (AHF) classification and management are primarily based on lung congestion and/or hypoperfusion. The quantification of the vascular and tissue lung damage is not standard practice though biomarkers of lung injury may play a relevant role in this context.

Clinical Translation of Patient‐Derived Organoids: Perspectives for Personalized Therapy in Cancer
ABSTRACT Patient‐derived organoids (PDO) are accelerating precision medicine. These biological platforms allow for the autologous in vitro expansion of material from cancer patients in a considerably short period of time. These three‐dimensional models can faithfully recapitulate aspects of tissue heterogeneity, architecture, and relevant cellular ...

ABSTRACT Background T‐cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T‐LBL) and T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) are considered a single biological entity, distinguished primarily by the extent of bone marrow infiltration. This distinction becomes diagnostically challenging in patients with borderline marrow blast counts and predominantly extramedullary ...

The diagnostic yield of pleural fluid cytology versus pleural biopsy in malignant pleural effusion
Background Malignant pleural effusion (MPE) is a common problem in neoplastic diseases. Studies showed that 42–77% of exudative effusions result from malignancy.

Abstract An 81‐year‐old man with a history of high‐grade urothelial carcinoma of the bladder and ureter on treatment with atezolizumab and tiragolumab presented to the emergency department with 5 months of malaise, generalized weakness, and fatigue and 2 weeks of subjective fevers. One month prior to presentation, he received an empiric 9‐day course of

Comparison between Medical Thoracoscopic Pleural Biopsy and Pleural Brush Cytology in Undiagnosed Exudative Pleural Effusions: A Prospective study [PDF]
INTRODUCTION: The accurate diagnosis of pleural effusion remains a challenging clinical problem. Medical thoracoscopy has an established role in diagnosis of the undiagnosed exudative pleural effusion.
