Sonographic localisation of lymph nodes suspicious of metastatic breast cancer to surgical axillary levels

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, Volume 72, Issue 1, Page 119-138, March 2025.
Sonographic imaging is used to identify the presence, number and location of malignant lymph nodes. Axillary lymph nodes suspicious of harbouring breast cancer metastasis can be localised to three surgical axillary levels. This paper will unpack the axillary anatomy, muscular sonographic landmarks, surgical axillary lymph node levels and the ...

Risk of Long‐Term Airway Sequelae and Mortality in Laryngeal Chondrosarcoma

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In low‐ and intermediate‐grade laryngeal chondrosarcomas, nonradical surgery or even debulking is considered justifiable to preserve laryngeal function. However, tumor‐ and treatment‐related factors affecting the need for reoperation and long‐term risk for tracheostomy remain unclear.

Data‐Independent Acquisition Mass Spectrometry in Tumor Classification and Cancer Biomarker Research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Cancer treatment is far from optimal also because current classification systems do not reflect the complex molecular status of the tumor and its phenotype in sufficient detail. To construct molecular tumor classifiers, omics tools provide complex molecular data reflecting many aspects from genotype to phenotype.

Diagnosis and Management of Prenatal Hereditary Pyropoikilocytosis

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hereditary pyropoikilocytosis (HPP) is a severe hemolytic anemia caused by variants in SPTA1, SPTB, and EPB41. These weaken horizontal interactions in the erythrocyte cytoskeleton, causing membrane fragmentation and splenic sequestration. It will readily cause fetal anemia and often hydrops fetalis. Prenatal diagnosis requires first ruling out

Safety and Efficacy of Direct Cryobiopsy Specimen Retrieval Through the 3.0‐mm Working Channel of a Therapeutic Bronchoscope Using a 1.1‐mm Cryoprobe: A Multicentre Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
Safety and efficacy of direct 1.1‐mm cryobiopsy specimen retrieval through a 3.0‐mm therapeutic bronchoscope channel were evaluated. The technique achieved 87.5% overall diagnostic yield, produced specimens three times larger than forceps biopsy, and caused Grade 3 bleeding in only 2.1%.

Effects of Lymphatic and Venous Invasion Status on Postoperative Prognosis and Metastasis Pattern in Patients With Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) is a recognized predictor of poor postoperative outcomes in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, only a few studies have evaluated lymphatic invasion (LI) and venous invasion (VI) separately across contemporary perioperative strategies.
