Chylothorax as the Initial Manifestation of Small Cell Lung Carcinoma

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2025.
Chylothorax can indeed be an initial manifestation of lung cancer. Non‐traumatic and non‐iatrogenic chylothorax requires thorough investigation, with computed tomography (CT) of the chest being a crucial diagnostic tool. Prolonged drainage of chylothorax can lead to exaggerated immunosuppression in malignancy.

Determination of In Vivo efficacy and safety of zeolite as a new pleurodesis agent

open access: yesToxicology Reports, 2022
Pleural effusion, the pathological condition in which an abnormal amount of pleural fluid is accumulated in the small space between the visceral and parietal pleurae of the lungs, can be treated by pleurodesis, whereby the pleural space is obliterated ...

Spontaneous pneumothorax: comparison of simple drainage, talc pleurodesis, and tetracycline pleurodesis. [PDF]

open access: yesThorax, 1989
From 1978 to 1985 96 patients with their first spontaneous pneumothorax were randomised into three groups, receiving either treatment with simple drainage (34 patients), drainage with tetracycline pleurodesis (33 patients), or drainage with talc pleurodesis (29 patients). There were 58 men and 38 women, aged 18-88 years.

A Rare Case of Intramediastinal Humeral Head Fracture Dislocation Through the Thoracic Inlet

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Intramediastinal fracture dislocation of the humeral head due to a blunt trauma is very rare. It may be accompanied by local and systemic injuries associated with high‐energy trauma. Only one case has been reported in the literature; therefore, an appropriate treatment modality remains unclear. We present a case of a 71‐year‐old woman involved

Effectiveness and safety of outpatient pleurodesis in patients with recurrent malignant pleural effusion and low performance status

open access: yesClinics, 2011
OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of pleurodesis carried out entirely on an outpatient basis in patients with recurrent malignant pleural effusions and Karnofsky Performance Status scores 90%, pleurodesis (3 g of talc) was performed ...
