Interrelationships of scophthalmid fishes (Pleuronectiformes: Scophthalmidae)
2003A cladistic analysis of the eight species included in the Scophthalmidae was performed using 25 morphological features, mostly osteological. The analysis resulted in a single cladogram (exhaustive search, 34 steps, consistency index = 0.735, retention index = 0.864). The monophyly of the Scophthalmidae is supported by 4 synapomorphies.

Adaptation in the jaws of flatfish (Pleuronectiformes)
Journal of Zoology, 1969The structure and mechanisms of the jaws of 18 species of flatfish have been investigated. Clear adaptations to different modes of feeding were found. The mechanisms of the jaws of Soleidae, Cynoglossidae, and Rhombosoleinae are highly specialized and the representatives of the two latter groups have some interesting jaw muscles of doubtful homology.

Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2014Zebrias crossolepis belongs to the family Soleidae of Pleuronectiformes. This species and its congeners are characterized by eyes on right side and a compressed body with only anterior half of caudal fin margin connected with dorsal and anal fins. In this article, we determined and described the complete mitogenome of Z. crossolepis.
