Insect‐Microbe‐Based Laccase: Untapped Natural Resource for Industrial and Biotechnological Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2025.
The insect‐microbe interplay fulfills a key ecological role involving the degradation of ligninocellulose biomass. This is coordinated by the secretion of different kinds of proteins, of which ligninolytic enzymes, such as laccases (Lacs), are of prime importance.

Oviposition Response to Light With Different Spectra in the Crepuscular Moth Grapholita molesta

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
The crepuscular moth Grapholita molesta can discriminate differences in light wavelength, exhibiting a strong preference to lay eggs in UV light. ABSTRACT The light spectrum is a critical visual feature influencing insect behavior. The crepuscular moth Grapholita molesta (Busck), a significant pest of stone and pome fruits worldwide, has been shown to ...

Hemocytes: Central drivers of antimicrobial peptide expression and immune proteins in both cellular and humoral responses of Galleria mellonella

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 9, Page 1000-1010, September 2025.
We assessed gallerimycin, galiomycin, and hemolin gene expression in Galleria mellonella whole larvae, hemocytes, and fat body at 4 and 24 h post‐injection of Candida albicans and silica beads. Higher gallerimycin and galiomycin expression in hemocytes signified their role in antimicrobial peptide synthesis.
