Second edition ICCR dataset for testicular germ cell tumours: a reporting guide for histopathological diagnosis of orchiectomy specimens

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 88, Issue 1, Page 252-264, January 2026.
The current 2nd edition Orchiectomy dataset offers a rigorously validated, internationally developed checklist that supports high‐quality, standardised reporting and promotes clinical confidence across diverse healthcare settings. All ICCR datasets are freely available to the global pathology community via the ICCR website ([www.iccr‐cancer.org](http://

A likelihood ratio test for detecting shifts in homeolog expression ratios in allopolyploids

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 1, Page 603-617, January 2026.
Summary Allopolyploids arise through hybridization between related species, carrying multiple sets of chromosomes from distinct progenitors, referred to as subgenomes. Within allopolyploids, duplicated genes across subgenomes, called homeologs, are thought to enhance environmental robustness by shifting their expression ratios depending on ...

Signatures of local nitrogen adaptation in the Brachypodium distachyon root microbiome

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 1, Page 433-447, January 2026.
Summary Plants associate with diverse microbiomes that impact their fitness, yet the contribution of the microbiome to plant adaptation is uncertain. As plant recruitment of its microbiome can be both highly variable and genetically determined, we hypothesized this recruitment process may be the result of adaptive evolution, and contributing to plant ...

Diploid origins and early genome stabilization in the allotetraploid Arabidopsis suecica

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 1, Page 524-538, January 2026.
Summary Polyploidization, followed by genome downsizing, is a recurrent evolutionary cycle that dramatically reshapes genome structure. Newly formed polyploids must quickly adjust their cell division machinery to maintain stable chromosome inheritance, while long‐term stabilization involves rediploidization, returning the genome to a diploid‐like state.

Macro‐Hybrid and Micro‐Hybrid of Fish

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study reviews the progress in fish breeding, focusing on distant hybridization and gynogenesis, and introduces the theory of macro‐hybrid and micro‐hybrid. The macro‐hybrid refers to the allo‐progeny derived from distant hybridization, including the allo‐progenies.
