The Skill Plot: A Graphical Technique for Evaluating Continuous Diagnostic Tests
Biometrics, 2007Summary We introduce the Skill Plot, a method that it is directly relevant to a decision maker who must use a diagnostic test. In contrast to ROC curves, the skill curve allows easy graphical inspection of the optimal cutoff or decision rule for a diagnostic test.

COMPUTER GRAPHIC PLOTTING AND MAPPING OF DATA IN SYSTEMATICS
TAXON, 1974SummaryThe use of the computer to map and/or plot systematic data is examined in the areas of automatic plotting of taxa's distributions and computer graphic analysis of geographic variation and population differentiation. Automatic plotting of distributional data is discussed in reference to earlier work and present applications in conjunction with ...

The radial plot: Graphical assessment of spread in ages
International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part D. Nuclear Tracks and Radiation Measurements, 1990Abstract A radial plot is a new graphical method for comparing several estimates which have different precisions. The present article illustrates its usefulness in fission track dating to compare age estimates in a variety of situations—for example, to check their homogeneity before obtaining a combined estimate, to identify possible detrital grains,

A graphical depiction of multivariate similarity among sample plots
Canadian Journal of Forest Research, 1988A system for graphically comparing multivariate similarity between a large number of sample plots is presented. Two-dimensional nonmetric (rank order) multidimensional scaling is used to generate maps. These maps display either stand variables (site index, basal area, normality (used as a measure of stocking), change in normality, age and stems per ...

Graphical aids to interpretation of scatchard plots and dose-response curves
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1979Abstract General expressions are derived for the limiting slopes and intercepts of graphical representations of experimental binding data in either the Scatchard or the “dose-response” co-ordinate systems. We apply a previously formulated general model that includes heterogeneity and/or cooperativity of receptor affinity. One must establish or assume

Graphical data modeling methods using ceres plots
Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 1996Identification of curvature in regression models is an important aspect of data analysis. Partial residual plots have played a major role. Recently, Cook developed a new class of plots, called CERES plots, that includes partial residual plots. Implementation of these plots necessitates modeling the relationships between certain covariates.

Graphical methods for plotting and evaluating Weibull distributed data
Proceedings of 1994 4th International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials (ICPADM), 2002Aiming at making Weibull plots, three types of plotting positions are reviewed: median probability, mean probability and mean plotting position. It is important whether the (log)data are regarded as median or as mean values. Median type plotting gives a biased plot on the average and, if used to identify outliers, can be somewhat misleading at the low ...

Graphical representation of magnitudes in a FEM software-plotting and sectioning
Advances in Engineering Software, 1992Abstract In this work an attempt is made to present, in a few words, equations and methods that can be used to build a post processor of a FEM software. The main objective is to make possible the graphical representation of magnitudes derived from a FEM software.

High-resolution graphics — PLOT, DRAW, CIRCLE and INVERSE
1985High-resolution graphics involves the use of pixels, A pixel is a very small dot. Each character position on the screen is made up of eight pixels across and eight pixels up the side. The diagram that follows, which has been enlarged, shows the character position 21,0 divided into 8 x 8 tiny squares — each tiny square is a pixel. Two examples of pixels
