Driving Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2009
This article examines early users’ experiences with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). At the time that this study was conducted, in the winter and spring of 2007, PHEVs were not yet commercialized. Still, Americans were becoming aware of PHEVs and 25 to 30 vehicles converted from hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) to PHEVs were on the road.

Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)

2020
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are nothing but a mixture of an electric vehicle and a conventional vehicle. Its battery can be charged externally. It has the benefits of both worlds. It is as energy conserving as the electric vehicles and as efficient as the conventional vehicles. But to know more about the plug-in hybrid, we must know when and where

Power flow analysis for plug in hybrid electric vehicles

The XIX International Conference on Electrical Machines - ICEM 2010, 2010
This paper depicts a plug in hybrid vehicle with a generation system based on an internal combustion engine coupled to a permanent magnets synchronous motor. The storage system is based on the combination of batteries and ultracapacitors in order to extend batteries life.

Eco-routing for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles

2020 IEEE 23rd International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2020
Eco-routing aims to find routes that minimize vehicles’energy consumption, as an alternative to minimumtime or minimum-distance routes. This paper develops a new data-driven energy consumption model for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and proposes an algorithm that determines both the optimal path and powertrain strategy.

Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles

2009
This energy technology roadmap focuses on electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles (EV/PHEV), presenting for the first time a detailed scenario for their evolution from annual production of a few thousand to over 100 million vehicles by 2050. It finds that the next decade is a key “make or break” period for EVs and PHEVs: governments, the automobile ...

Optimal Routing for Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles

Transportation Science, 2017
We propose routing algorithms for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) that account for the significant energy efficiency differences of vehicle operating modes and recommend the predominant mode of operation for each road segment during route planning. This is to enhance fuel economy and reduce emissions. We introduce the energy-efficient routing
