Normal and gamma-rayed resting plumule of barley
Radiation Botany, 1967Abstract Eight cultivars of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) differ very little from one another in plumular morphology, but they all differ appreciably from some descriptions in the literature. Most cultivars had 3 (one had 4) primordial leaves and all had 2 axillary buds in addition to the apical meristem.

Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of flavonoids from lotus plumule
Food Chemistry, 2019The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of action of flavonoids in lotus plumule were systematically analyzed using radical scavenging assays and ELISA kits. By this means, flavonoids displayed significant antioxidant activity by donating electron, H atom as well as capturing DPPH and ABTS+ free radicals, and anti-inflammatory effect by ...

Protocol for the Micropropagation of Coconut from Plumule Explants
2018Coconut is a crop that is economically important in several countries throughout the world. Unfortunately, production is decreasing because palms are affected by very serious phytoplasma diseases, such as lethal yellowing, and also most of coconuts are already very old. On the other hand, markets for coconut products have been rapidly growing in recent

Histological analysis of plant regeneration from plumule explants of Cocos nucifera
Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 2003Plant regeneration was achieved from plumules excised from mature zygotic embryos of a local coconut cultivar (Sri Lanka Tall). A detailed histological study was undertaken to gain a better understanding of the cellular changes that occur during plant regeneration from plumule tissues.

Regeneration of coconut ( Cocos nucifera L.) from plumule explants through somatic embryogenesis
Plant Cell Reports, 1998A protocol was developed for coconut regeneration using plumules from mature zygotic embryos as explants, and media with the synthetic growth regulators 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and 6-benzylaminopurine. Evidence for the regeneration process from these tissues occurring through somatic embryogenesis is presented.

Protective effects of lotus plumule ethanol extracts on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in mice
Drug and Chemical Toxicology, 2021Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a progressive fibrosing disease, characterized by excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) and remodeling of the lung architecture, which finally result in respiratory failure. Currently, there is no satisfactory treatment for PF, therefore, the development of effective agents is urgently needed.

Action spectra for C-glucosylflavone accumulation in Hordeum vulgare plumules
Phytochemistry, 1973Abstract Five-day-old etiolated barley plumules contain the C -glucosylflavones saponarin, lutonarin, and lutonarin 3′-methyl ether. When harvested 24 hr after illumination, increased flavonoid levels were essentially linear with increased energies of monochromatic light at seven wavelengths between 450 and 750 nm.

Planta, 1986
Immunofluorescence techniques have been used to study the distribution of calmodulin in several tissues in young etiolated pea (Pisum sativum L.) seedlings. A fairly uniform staining was seen in the nucleoplasm and background cytoplasm of most cell types. Cell walls and nucleoli were not stained.

The Taxonomic Significance of Plumule Morphology in Ceratophyllum (Ceratophyllaceae)
Systematic Botany, 1985The plumule morphology of the species of Ceratophyllum was studied for the purposes of: 1) determining the extent of variability in forking of the first epicotyl leaves, and 2) evaluating plumule features as taxonomic characters by assessing interspecific and intraspecific (interand intrapopulational) variation.

Inhibitory effect of cotyledons on plumule development in two alpine rosettes
Canadian Journal of Botany, 1988The plumule in rosette plants showing the phenomenon of "pseudomonocotyly" remains in a quiescent stage at the base of the cotyledonary tube, and this quiescent stage appears to be due to the inhibitory influence of the cotyledons. This correlative inhibition in which the development of the embryonic apical region is influenced by the cotyledon may be
