Environmental Footprint of Diffuse Emissions in European Functional Urban Areas
ABSTRACT This paper quantifies the environmental footprint of diffuse air emissions across 776 European functional urban areas (FUAs) from 2005 to 2022 by coupling Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) gridded inventories with the Environmental Footprint (EF) 3.1 framework.

Enabling Sustainability in Local Food Supply Chains: A Life Cycle Assessment‐Based Approach
ABSTRACT In response to escalating environmental and food security challenges, this study explores how Local Food Systems (LFS) and Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs) can be redesigned to support sustainability goals. Drawing on a case study of a microalgae‐based food producer, the research applies a Resource Nexus Approach combined with Life Cycle ...

Just Transition in Europe: A Regional Analysis of Environmental Inequality
ABSTRACT The European Green Deal and the just‐transition agenda promise that no person and no place will be left behind, yet the regional distribution of multi‐impact, emission‐based environmental burdens remains insufficiently understood across Europe.

ABSTRACT Sargassum inundation of Caribbean and American shorelines is a growing environmental hazard. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and ammonia (NH3) produced by decomposing Sargassum could be involved in airway obstruction and bronchial inflammation. The study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of exposure to H2S and NH3 gases emitted during Sargassum ...

Impact of Environmental Microparticles on Insect Olfaction
ABSTRACT Terrestrial insects underpin key ecosystem services, including pollination, herbivory regulation, decomposition, nutrient cycling, and disease control. These functions depend on chemical communication that guides insects to food, mates, hosts, shelters, and oviposition sites while helping them avoid threats.

ABSTRACT Urban walking routes are promoted as health‐supportive environments, yet they may also act as microenvironments of pollutant exposure during physical activity. This study evaluated heavy metal exposure along urban walking routes by integrating road dust metal concentrations, conventional health risk assessment, deposited inhalation dose, and ...
