Integrated Valorization of Waste Biomass via Low‐Temperature Pyrolysis and Biochar Application as Heterogeneous Catalyst for SAF Production

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 5, May 2026.
A biorefinery approach integrates the valorization of agri‐food waste through low‐temperature pyrolysis. The process concurrently yields functional liquid fractions and versatile biochars, which undergo extensive characterization to evaluate their potential in diverse technological applications. These materials serve as efficient renewable catalysts in

circPDE4B downregulation triggers GEMIN5‑dependent translational stress response and autophagy to reduce MAPT pathology

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are emerging as key regulators of gene expression, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal function in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Here, we characterize the biological actions of circPDE4B, a highly expressed circRNA markedly reduced in AD. METHODS circPDE4B knockdown in neuronal progenitor cells was combined with

Single‐cell transcriptomic analysis reveals APOE genotype‐dependent sex differences in Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia, with approximately two‐thirds of AD patients being female. Basic and clinical research studies provide strong evidence that sex‐specific differences contribute to AD complexity.

Partnership Driving Impact: An Integrated Women‐Centric Model to Improve Early Detection and Treatment of Cervical and Breast Cancer in Ghana and India

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
This manuscript focuses on the design and implementation of 2 real‐world screening programs conducted in Ghana and India. These programs were developed to align with the operational realities and resource constraints of each setting, prioritizing approaches that are both sustainable and scalable for long‐term cancer control.

Contemporary Applications of Chemical Libraries for Drug Discovery and Methods for Their Synthesis

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 5, May 2026.
Screening of chemical libraries has over the past decades become a cornerstone of drug discovery. Today, a broad range of chemical libraries exist but they are often not well described in terms of diversity. This review describes current efforts which aim to visualize chemical diversity in compound collections and discuss current trends in synthetic ...

Magnetic Properties of Ferritin at Different Levels of Degradation: Implications for MRI‐Based Iron Quantification in the Brain

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 5, Page 2892-2897, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Ferritin's iron core exhibits complex magnetic properties, as suggested by magnetometry and Mössbauer spectroscopy, which remain incompletely understood. In particular, the antiferromagnetic inner core could influence the accuracy of iron quantification using MRI and raise concerns about postmortem validation studies involving degraded

Assessing Age‐Associated Influences on Paramagnetic and Diamagnetic Susceptibility Maps in Postmortem Human Brains

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 5, May 2026.
We applied the APART‐QSM method to in situ postmortem MRI from 47 subjects (31–91 years) to assess age effects on paramagnetic and diamagnetic susceptibility. Diamagnetic susceptibility declined with age in basal ganglia, possibly reflecting shared biological factors.
