The complexity of caring for the dying - an empirical approach to understanding palliative care as integrated care in the German healthcare system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Integrated Care, 2019
End-of-life or palliative care is often complex: in terms of patient morbidity and symptoms, of interventions to be applied and of the type and number of service providers involved.

Prolonged mechanical ventilation after lung transplantation: risks factors and consequences on recipient outcome

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2023
BackgroundRisk factors and the incidence of prolonged mechanical ventilation (PMV) after lung transplantation (LT) have been poorly described. The study assessed predictive factors of PMV after LT.MethodsThis observational, retrospective, monocentric ...

Experimental study on occupants' thermal comfort in railway vehicles (Verification of the applicability of PMV/PPD to main line vehicles in the summer)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
In this study, the relation between the thermal environment and the thermal comfort of occupants in a main line vehicle in the summer was investigated. At first, to understand the characteristics of the thermal environment in a main line vehicle, a field

The crystallographic structure of Panicum Mosaic Virus (PMV) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural Biology, 2013
The structure of Panicum Mosaic Virus (PMV) was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis to 2.9Å resolution. The crystals were of pseudo symmetry F23; the true crystallographic unit cell was of space group P2(1) with a=411.7Å, b=403.9Å and c=412.5Å, with β=89.7°. The asymmetric unit was two entire T=3 virus particles, or 360 protein subunits.

Thermophysiological Comfort of Surgeons and Patient in an Operating Room Based on PMV-PPD and PHS Indexes

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
There are different actors in an operating room (OR), who have controversial requirements for the indoor thermal environment. While the patient is at risk of perioperative hypothermia, the surgeons are in a state of thermophysiological discomfort.

Risk Factors for Prolonged Mechanical Ventilation After Pulmonary Endarterectomy: 7 Years' Experience From an Experienced Hospital in China

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2021
Background: Prolonged mechanical ventilation (PMV) is common after cardiothoracic surgery, whereas the mechanical ventilation strategy after pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) has not yet been reported.

Numerical and experimental investigation on the thermal behaviour of the building integrating occupant thermal comfort [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
Simulation tools are widely used to model buildings in order to predict their indoor air quality and energy consumption. The prediction capability of the model is an influential factor in determining the ability of the building to be energy efficient and
