Insomnia Symptoms in a Swiss Population‐Based Cohort: Prevalence, Clinical Correlates and Polysomnographic Alterations

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study assessed the prevalence, clinical correlates and polysomnographic features of insomnia symptoms in a population‐based cohort (HypnoLaus, Lausanne, Switzerland). Data were obtained from 3947 participants (mean age 57.5 ± 10.5 years; range 40–82; 52.0% female).

Robel Pole Method Can Estimate Cereal Rye Biomass to Optimize Termination Timing

open access: yesCrop, Forage &Turfgrass Management, Volume 12, Issue 2, December 2026.
Abstract Fully realizing the benefits of cover crops and minimizing the yield penalty requires knowing when to terminate them. Cereal rye (Secale cereale L.) is the dominant cover crop used in the Midwest US, and previous work has shown that corn (Zea mays L.) yield penalties began to occur more frequently when cereal rye is at ∼1000 lb dry biomass ac ...

Deconstruction of Aspartic Protease Inhibitors Enables Fragment‐Based Discovery of Plasmepsin V Inhibitors

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
A structure‐informed, fragment‐based approach was used to identify non‐peptidomimetic inhibitors of plasmepsin V. Pyrrolidine, piperidine, and piperazine containing fragments showed activity in a FRET assay. The optimization of the pyrrolidine scaffold resulted in N‐sulfonamide analogs with potency up to ~10 µM, establishing a promising scaffold for ...

Light Switchable Ionic Conductivity of Arylazopyrazole Modified Polysiloxanes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 15, 7 August 2026.
We present a polysiloxane functionalized with a novel arylazopyrazole dye that undergoes reversible photoisomerization. Upon lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide addition and UV irradiation, the polymer exhibits a shift in tan(d) toward higher frequencies and enhanced ionic conductivity.

Thermal sensation of children and its predictive evaluation method in Indonesia’s dry season

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering
There is a discrepancy between children’s thermal sensation in hot-humid climates near the equator and conventional thermal comfort indexes, such as the predicted mean vote (PMV).

A New General Formulation for the PMV Thermal Comfort Index

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
The PMV index forms the basis of international thermal comfort standards. PMV was developed based on empirical relationships between the metabolic rate of activity and the body mean skin temperature and evaporative heat loss under the comfort conditions.

Zn(C2H4NO2)2(SO2CH3NH2)2 and Zn(C2H4NO2)2[SO2(NH2)2]: Regulation of Unique ZnO(C2H4NO2)2 Units by Polar Tetrahedrons for Balanced UV Nonlinear Optical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 43, 3 August 2026.
The modulation of polar tetrahedra enabled the synthesis of an outstanding short‐wave UV NLO crystal, Zn(C2H4NO2)2[SO2(NH2)2], which achieves a rare balance of a large bandgap (5.93 eV), high birefringence (Δn = 0.126 at 546 nm), and strong SHG response (1.36 × KDP), especially achieving excellent phase‐matching throughout the full transparency range ...

The role of vascular risk factors in white matter tract microstructure: a multi‐cohort study in older adults

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Vascular risk factors (VRFs) contribute to white matter microstructural degeneration, but their tract‐specific contributions are unclear. We assessed the independent associations of four major VRFs with white matter microstructure in a large, multi‐cohort study.
