Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS) Surveillance Study

open access: yes, 2005
PMWS is characterized by a clinical history of wasting or poor performance in weaned pigs and by severe lymphoid depletion and histiocytic replacement of follicles in lymphoid tissues. The detection of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) antigen or nucleic acids within characteristic microscopic lesions is required for the diagnosis of PMWS.

Meteorological conditions leading to a catastrophic, rain‐induced landslide in Cameroon in October 2019

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Volume 152, Issue 775, January 2026 Part B.
October 2019 was characterized by three main multiday wet spells in Bafoussam and Dschang. Our results indicated that wet spells were influenced by a vortex pair near the Gulf of Guinea, a strong Sahara Heat Low located anomalously far east and north, a northward shift of the intertropical discontinuity, an enhancement of the inland penetration of the ...

PCV2-DNA in formalin-fixed and paraffin embedded lymph nodes of wild boar (Sus scrofa ssp. scrofa): one sampling approach for two laboratory techniques

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 2012
Superficial inguinal lymph nodes from 72 wild boars examined in a previous immunohistochemical (IHC) study on porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) were selected for a PCV2 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis.

Review of recent trends of advancements in multilevel inverter topologies with reduced power switches and control techniques

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Some of the topologies with a fewer number of power switches are reviewed and scrutinized. An extensive analysis of the topologies, control strategy and applications are presented here, suggesting suitable multilevel inverter solutions to the known industrial application or new research.

Emergence of a Novel CRESS‐DNA Virus Associated with Swine Reproductive Failure in China

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The continuous emergence of circular Rep‐encoding single‐stranded (CRESS) DNA viruses across diverse hosts has been closely associated with the occurrence of severe diseases. Four circoviruses within the genus Circovirus have been identified in pigs, including porcine circovirus Type 1 (PCV1), PCV2, PCV3, PCV4, and PCV5.

Global Status of Porcine circovirus Type 2 and Its Associated Diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa

open access: yesAdvances in Virology, 2017
Globally, Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is a recognized viral pathogen of great economic value in pig farming. It is the major cause of ravaging postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) and many other disease syndromes generally regarded as ...

Global gene expression profiling of myeloid immune cell subsets in response to in vitro challenge with porcine circovirus 2b.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Compelling evidence suggests that the early interaction between porcine circovirus 2 (PCV-2) and the innate immune system is the key event in the pathogenesis of Post-Weaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS).

CIRCOVIROSIS IS NOT A DISEASE: REVIEW OF PMWS

open access: yes, 2013
Postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) is one of the disease among the porcine circovirus diseases (PCVD). PMWS has a significant economic impact on global pig industry. Porcine circovirus type 2 has been circulating in pigs for many years before being linked to disease.

Enhancing NMR Signals in Liquids by Fluorine‐19 Overhauser Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) and Hyperpolarization Transfer to Carbon‐13

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 50, December 8, 2025.
Fluorine nuclear spins can be hyperpolarized in solution by Overhauser dynamic nuclear polarization from a paramagnetic agent like galvinoxyl. This hyperpolarization can be transferred by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to nearby 13C, leading to 13C signal enhancements up to ∼100.
