A Special Pneumatic Actuator

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1980
Abstract It has been developed by our Institute a special robustic electropneumatic stepping motor in order to make possible an additional remote control over valves-operated by hand before. The development seems to be sucsessfull and has been approved by different experiments.

Highly flexible pneumatic actuators

2019 IEEE 4th International Conference on Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics (ICARM), 2019
Currently, the main limitation to the use of the Flexible Actuators (FA) are their complicated construction and high manufacturing costs. They are also difficult to control, especially 3D printed FA. This paper describes a new type of FA. It is built with two springs left-and right-coil and one elastic tube mounted inside the springs.

Fuzzy Control of a Pneumatic Actuator

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1997
Abstract This work describes the design and the behavior of a fuzzy control system for a pneumatic actuator, aimed at controlling the piston position and at enabling the system to accurately follow desired reference trajectories. A non-linear model of the system and three increasingly complex versions of the fuzzy controller are described in this ...

Analysis of Pneumatic Balloon Actuator

2011 8th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots and Ambient Intelligence (URAI), 2011
This paper describes the analysis of Pneumatic Balloon Actuator (PBA). To do this, Finite Element Method (FEM) is used. In this paper, no-load characteristic of PBA is studied and through this, the displacement and stress of PBA can be calculated.

Design and Experiments of Pneumatic Soft Actuators

Robotica, 2021
SUMMARYThe soft actuator is made of superelastic material and embedded flexible material. In this paper, a kind of soft tube was designed and used to assemble two kinds of pneumatic soft actuators. The experiment and finite element analysis are used to comprehensively analyze and describe the bending, elongation, and torsion deformation of the soft ...

Dynamics and control of pneumatic actuators

1995 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Intelligent Systems for the 21st Century, 2002
Pneumatic actuators are, with hydraulic and electrical ones, a large class of actuators today in use in industrial or technical domains to satisfy the very broad range of constraints corresponding to the domains of working parameters. In marked difference with the two other classes, these actuators are extremely simple in their structure, with very low

Dynamic analysis of pneumatic actuators

Simulation Practice and Theory, 1999
Abstract The paper deals with the dynamic analysis of double acting actuators, both linear and rotary ones. Two different formulations to model a pneumatic circuit, composed of an actuator and a digital valve, are presented. In the first one an air thermodynamic transformation is assumed and the simulation is carried out in the MATLAB-Simulink ...

A force-controlled pneumatic actuator

IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation, 1995
This paper presents a new pneumatic actuator for applications requiring moderate, but accurate, force control, such as teleoperation masters and robot wrists. The actuator uses voice-coil flapper valves and low-friction cylinders. Its force is controlled by servoing differential pressure. Aspects of valve design, system modeling, controller design, and
