Boron Nitride Nanomaterials Trigger Immunomodulatory Effects in Human Broncho‐Epithelial Cells by Modulating Eicosanoid Lipid Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that BNNT exposure disrupts lipid homeostasis in bronchial epithelial cell cultures and activates eicosanoid lipid biosynthesis, producing inflammatory lipid mediators like leukotrienes. These effects are more pronounced in asthmatic cell cultures compared to healthy ones.

Nasopharyngeal density of respiratory viruses in childhood pneumonia in a highly vaccinated setting: findings from a case–control study

open access: yesBMJ Open Respiratory Research, 2020
Background Detection of pneumonia-causing respiratory viruses in the nasopharynx of asymptomatic children has made their actual contribution to pneumonia unclear.

On the use of clustering and the MeSH controlled vocabulary to improve MEDLINE abstract search [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Databases of genomic documents contain substantial amounts of structured information in addition to the texts of titles and abstracts. Unstructured information retrieval techniques fail to take advantage of the structured information available.

Impact of antibacterials on subsequent resistance and clinical outcomes in adult patients with viral pneumonia: An opportunity for stewardship [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
INTRODUCTION: Respiratory viruses are increasingly recognized as significant etiologies of pneumonia among hospitalized patients. Advanced technologies using multiplex molecular assays and polymerase-chain reaction increase the ability to identify viral ...

Effectiveness of Pre‐Transplant Dual GLP‐1 Receptor Agonist and SGLT2 Inhibitor Therapy on All‐Cause Mortality in Organ Transplantation Candidates with Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes: a Target‐Trial Emulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This target trial emulation in solid organ transplant candidates with obesity and type 2 diabetes evaluates whether pre‐transplant dual therapy with GLP‐1 receptor agonists plus SGLT2 inhibitors is associated with post‐transplant mortality and kidney graft outcomes compared with monotherapy or usual care, using multinational electronic health records ...

CD147/Basigin: From Integrative Molecular Hub to Translational Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review conceptualizes CD147 as a fundamental “Energy‐Structure Coupler,” physically bridging metabolic flux (via MCTs) with morphogenetic plasticity (via integrins/MMPs) to drive cancer, infection, and autoimmunity. Addressing the “specificity paradox” that limits current translation, the authors chart a strategic roadmap—spanning logic‐gated ...
