Floral adaptation and modular trait evolution associated with a shift from bee to hummingbird pollination

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
By comparing floral trait variation, integration and modularity in two sister species of Neotropical Costus with a pollination shift, we show that, despite pollination syndrome divergence, both species exhibit low floral variation and functional modularity, consistent with pollinator‐driven selection on traits mediating pollen transfer efficiency and ...

Adjuvant Chemotherapy Regimens in Resected Biliary Tract Cancers: National, Comparative, Observational Study (TOG/GI‐SAFRADJU‐2501)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 11, Page 2766-2777, 1 December 2026.
ABSTRACT The recommended adjuvant chemotherapy (adj‐ChT) regimen for resected biliary tract cancers (BTC) is capecitabine (Cape); yet, the recommendation is based on limited evidence. Although varied adj‐ChTs have been employed in practice, robust real‐world data is scarce. We conducted a national, multicenter, hospital‐based registry study to evaluate

The molecular pathological basis and potential clinical applications of ‘zero‐budding’ status in stage II colorectal cancer

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research, Volume 12, Issue 6, November 2026.
Abstract In the personalized management of stage II colorectal cancer (CRC), traditional TNM (Tumor, Node, Metastasis) staging has limited ability to accurately stratify the risk of postoperative recurrence. Consequently, oncologists frequently face a major therapeutic dilemma when determining the use of adjuvant chemotherapy in these patients ...

MGP_HNSC32: A H&E Morphology‐Derived 32‐Gene Prognostic Signature in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC) exhibits substantial molecular and morphological heterogeneity, yet current morphology‐based prognostic models often lack biological interpretability. We developed a transformer‐based computational framework (CTransPath) to virtually predict gene expression directly from hematoxylin and eosin (H&E ...

Lymph Node Regression Improves Prognostic Stratification in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Receiving Neoadjuvant Chemoimmunotherapy: A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2026.
Pathological lymph node regression grading predicts survival after neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy. (A) Schematic illustration of the novel five‐tier lymph node regression grading (LNRG) system and representative histopathological images. LNRG 1–4 were defined as follows: LNRG 1, no viable tumor cells observed within the tumor bed; LNRG 2, viable tumor ...

Estimating Individualized Survival Benefit of Consolidative Metastasis‐Directed Radiotherapy Following Chemoimmunotherapy in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma With Exclusive Distant Metastasis

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2026.
This study integrates target trial emulation and causal machine learning to individualize consolidative metastasis‐directed radiotherapy (MDRT) for exclusively distant metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Using a multicenter cohort of 1083 patients, we confirmed overall MDRT efficacy via a cloning–censoring–weighting approach.
