Intrathecal duloxetine attenuates allodynia after PNI: possible involvement of P2X4R.

open access: yes, 2016
(A) The paw withdrawal threshold (grams) of mechanical stimulation by von Frey filaments applied to the rat hindpaw after PNI. Duloxetine (20 or 50 μg/20 μl) or vehicle (Phosphate buffered saline, 20 μl) was intrathecally administered to rats on day 7 ...

One‐Year Changes in Frailty Components After Curative Minimally Invasive Surgery for Colorectal Cancer in Older Patients

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Frailty predicts outcomes after colorectal cancer surgery, but postoperative changes remain unclear. We previously reported improvement in FRAIL Scale‐based frail/pre‐frail status 1 year after curative minimally invasive surgery (MIS).

Effect of Prognostic Nutritional Index and Systemic Immune-inflammation Index Changes on Progression-free Survival in Patients Treated with CDK4/6 Inhibitors and Letrozole

open access: yesJournal of Oncological Sciences
Objective: CDK4/6 inhibitors are the standard of care for metastatic hormone receptor (HR)-positive and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer.

Achievement of the Ideal Outcome After Pancreatectomy for Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Is Associated With Earlier Initiation and Higher Completion Rates of Adjuvant Chemotherapy and Improved Long‐Term Survival

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The Ideal Outcome is a composite quality indicator reflecting optimal postoperative course after pancreatic surgery. This study aimed to clarify the prognostic significance of achieving the Ideal Outcome and its influence on the initiation and completion of adjuvant chemotherapy.

Barbed Sutures Are Associated With a Lower Incidence of Incisional Hernia Compared With Continuous Non‐Barbed Monofilament Sutures After Minimally Invasive Gastroenterological Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Incisional hernia remains a common complication after minimally invasive gastroenterological surgery despite small extraction incisions. In this propensity score‐weighted analysis, barbed sutures significantly reduced the incidence of incisional hernia compared with conventional slowly absorbable monofilament sutures without increasing postoperative ...

Morphological Parameters Associated With Perineural Invasion (PNI) in Carcinoma of the Cervix Uteri

open access: yes, 2010
The study determines morphological features that are associated with perineural invasion (PNI) in patients with cervical carcinoma (CX). Histological slides from 194 patients from surgically treated squamous cell carcinoma were re-examined for PNI and ...

Precision Nanomedicine for Traumatic Neural Injury: Functional Paradigms and Translational Frameworks [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced science
This review presents a pathology‐driven framework unifying nanomedicine across TBI, SCI, and PNI. Epidemiological evidence and comparative single‐cell transcriptomic reanalysis define shared pathological modules, injury‐specific effectors, and therapeutic bottlenecks. Six functional paradigms connect nanomaterial structure and biological fate to injury‐

Preoperative Total Iron‐Binding Capacity Is a Potential Surrogate Marker of Long‐Term Outcomes After Pancreatectomy for Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Preoperative low serum total iron‐binding capacity (TIBC) was associated with poorer overall survival and recurrence‐free survival after pancreatectomy for pancreatic cancer. These findings suggest that preoperative serum TIBC may serve as a simple surrogate marker for long‐term outcomes in patients undergoing pancreatectomy.

Prognostic Significance and Clinical Robustness of the HALP Score in Super‐Elderly Patients Undergoing Curative Gastrectomy for Gastric Cancer: A Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this multicenter study of 507 patients aged ≥ 80 years who underwent curative gastrectomy for gastric cancer, a low preoperative HALP score was independently associated with poor overall survival. This association remained consistent across multiple complementary analyses, and low HALP was also associated with both cancer‐specific and other‐cause ...

A new perspective of frozen shoulder pathology; the interplay between the brain and the immune system

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
Frozen shoulder (FS), also known as adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder (FS), is a fibrotic inflammatory process of unknown etiology whose main symptoms are pain, stiffness and the loss of joint mobility. These symptoms may be associated with pathologies
