From knowledge to action: the importance of characterizing herbicide resistance mechanisms for implementing management strategies

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This review bridges the gap between understanding resistance mechanisms and applying them in weed management, highlighting how mechanistic insights reveal vulnerabilities that can guide more effective control strategies. Abstract Herbicide resistance remains one of the most intensively studied areas in weed science because of its direct consequences ...

Identification of initial vegetation and habitat changes in small temperate fens using remote sensing

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Temperate fens with only incipient, subtle signs of deterioration can be reliably identified using Sentinel‐2 and aerial imagery, which sensitively detect early productivity‐related structural changes. Abstract Small temperate fens rank among the most endangered habitats in temperate Europe.

Computerized Clinical Decision Support to Prevent Venous Thromboembolism among Hospitalized Patients: Proximal Outcomes from a Multiyear Quality Improvement Project

open access: yesJournal for Healthcare Quality, EarlyView., 2014
Abstract Despite venous thromboembolism (VTE) policy initiatives, gaps exist between guidelines and practice. In response, hospitals implement clinical decision support (CDS) systems to improve VTE prophylaxis. To assess the impact of a VTE CDS on reducing incidence of VTE, this study used a pretest/posttest, longitudinal, cohort design incorporating ...

Assessment of a Model‐Based Approach to Achieve Authorization to Operate

open access: yesSystems Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accreditation of United States Government (USG) Information Systems (IS) is required to assure their function and security before delivery to the operational environment. However, in many cases, the baseline document‐based accreditation processes are sources of cost and schedule overruns.

Phenology drives asymmetric responses of ecosystem productivity stability to warming and cooling

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Ecosystem productivity stability is a key indicator of ecosystem functioning under climate change, but the role of cooling periods in increasingly variable climates remains poorly resolved.

Multi‐level nitrogen and phosphorus addition synergistically reduces alpine grassland stability via species compositional changes

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Nutrient addition generally weakens the stabilizing effects of plant diversity on grassland productivity. However, whether this destabilizing effect is associated with species compositional changes and varies with nutrient input levels remains unclear.
