Putative LysM Effectors Contribute to Fungal Lifestyle [PDF]
Fungal LysM effector proteins can dampen plant host–defence responses, protecting hyphae from plant chitinases, but little is known on these effectors from nonpathogenic fungal endophytes.

Influence of egg parasitic fungus, Engyodontium aranearum against root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita [PDF]
The indigenous egg parasitic fungal isolates, Engyodontium aranearum was evaluated for its nematicidal potential against root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita. The study revealed 53.75 per cent egg parasitization by the fungal isolate.

Abstract Biological control is a promising approach to reduce plant diseases caused by nematodes to ensure high productivity in agricultural production. Large‐scale analyses of genetic variation in fungal species used for biocontrol can generate knowledge regarding interaction mechanisms that can improve efficacy of biocontrol applications.

Pochonia chlamydosporia controls Meloidogyne incognita on carrot
The fungus Pochonia chlamydosporia var. chlamydosporia isolate Pc-10 (Pc-10) presents great potential for the management of root-knot nematodes on vegetable crops. However, there is no information about the use of Pc-10 on carrot. Thus, we evaluated in this study the effect of Pc-10 incorporated into the soil (PCI) or applied to the surface of the beds

Recent Advances in Synthetic Application and Engineering of Halogenases
Biocatalysis: Halogenases catalyze halogenation of arenes with high regioselectivity under ambient conditions. Still, enzymatic halogenation is considered inefficient, due to insufficient productivity and a limited number of applications reported until now.

Fungal Formulation with the Nematophagous Fungus Pochonia Chlamydosporia
Healthy foods with high nutritional value and products free of chemical residues present a promising market. This has increased the challenges of worm control. Helminths are a production concern as they affect the general health, welfare and performance of the animals.

A metabolomic approach to study the rhizodeposition in the tritrophic interaction: tomato, Pochonia chlamydosporia and Meloidogyne javanica [PDF]
A combined chemometrics-metabolomics approach [excitation–emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and high performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS)] was used to analyse the rhizodeposition of

Chitin deacetylases Cod4 and Cod7 are involved in polar growth of Aspergillus fumigatus
In our study, we show that Aspergillus fumigatus chitin deacetylase Cod4 preferentially deacetylated tetra‐N‐acetylglucosamine, (GlcNAc)4, whereas Cod7 is inactive, possibly due to a substitution of threonine by alanine at position 8. Deletion of cod4, cod7, or both leads to abnormal polarity and increased conidiation. Our results demonstrate that both

Insights into Adaptations to a Near- Obligate Nematode Endoparasitic Lifestyle from the Finished Genome of Drechmeria coniospora [PDF]
Nematophagous fungi employ three distinct predatory strategies: nematode trapping, parasitism of females and eggs, and endoparasitism. While endoparasites play key roles in controlling nematode populations in nature, their application for integrated pest
