Sexual Dimorphism in Fin Size and Shape in Bluefin Killifish
Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.This study shows very high levels of sexual dimorphism in dorsal and anal fin traits compared to other fins. Dorsal and anal fin traits are also correlated, such that individuals with large dorsal fins also have large anal fins. Together, this suggests strong sexual selection on these functionally integrated traits.
