Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

Prevalence of Cryptococcal Antigenemia and Lateral Flow Assay Accuracy in Severely Immunosuppressed AIDS Patients

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of cryptococcal antigenemia detected by lateral flow assay (LFA) in AIDS patients and its accuracy in the diagnosis of cryptococcosis.

Classical and Point-of-Care tests in severe hemorrhage management

open access: yesAboutOpen, 2022
Hemorrhage is defined as an acute loss of blood from the cardiovascular system. The hemostatic cascade (comprising the vasculature, coagulation factors, the fibrinolytic and the platelet systems) is the physiological mechanism meant to control this ...

Clinical applications of next‐generation sequencing‐based ctDNA analyses in breast cancer: defining treatment targets and dynamic changes during disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Point-of-Care Testing: Administration Within a Health System [PDF]

open access: yesLaboratory Medicine, 2000
Point-of-care testing (POCT) is spreading throughout health care systems in the United States. This article outlines an administrative structure for establishing and managing a POCT program in a health care system and discusses the role of the POCT coordinator in maintaining a quality assurance and training program that meets all the regulatory ...

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Compact integral manifolds of differential systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The boundedness tests for the number of compact integral manifolds of autonomous ordinary differential systems, of autonomous total differential systems, of linear systems of partial differential equations, of Pfaff systems of equations, and of systems of exterior differential equations are proved.

Using Structure-Behavior Coalescence Method for Systems Definition 2.0 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Systems definition is an artifact created by humans to describe what a system is. A system has been defined, by systems definition 1.0, hopefully to be an integrated whole, embodied in its components, their interrelationships with each other and the environment, and the principles and guidelines governing its design and evolution.

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.
