2D Extreme–Point Symmetric Mode Decomposition Method

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract This paper proposes a kind of 2D extension of Extreme–Point Symmetric Mode Decomposition Method. The 2D-sifting process is performed by 4 steps: 1 Extrema points detection (by neighboring window). 2 Delaunay triangulation is done over the grid of all extrema points. 3 Mid points of the triangulation are obtained.

Low dispersion spectroscopy of point-symmetric planetary nebulae [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2011
AbstractWe present an observational study of three oint-ymmetric lanetary ebulae (PS-PNe): PC 19, He 2-429, and He 1-1, whose kinematics has been previously reported in the literature. The study includes an analysis of physical conditions and chemical abundances.

Forecasting Models for Wind Power Using Extreme-Point Symmetric Mode Decomposition and Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yesSustainability, 2019
The randomness and volatility of wind power poses a serious threat to the stability, continuity, and adjustability of the power system when it is connected to the grid.

Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Drought in the Heihe River Basin Based on the Extreme-Point Symmetric Mode Decomposition Method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Disaster Risk Science, 2019
Assessment of spatiotemporal characteristics of drought under climate change is significant for drought mitigation. In this study, the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI) calculated at different timescales was adopted to describe ...

3D AMR Simulations of Point-Symmetric Nebulae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
At the end of their lives low mass stars such as our Sun lose most of their mass. The resulting planetary nebulae show a wide variety of shapes, from spherical to highly bipolar. According to the generalized interacting stellar winds model, these shapes are due to an interaction between a very fast tenuous outflow, and a denser environment left over ...

Sets Characterized by Missing Sums and Differences in Dilating Polytopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A sum-dominant set is a finite set $A$ of integers such that $|A+A| > |A-A|$. As a typical pair of elements contributes one sum and two differences, we expect sum-dominant sets to be rare in some sense.

On Coincidence and Fixed-Point Theorems in Symmetric Spaces

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Applications, 2008
We give an axiom (C.C) in symmetric spaces and investigate the relationships between (C.C) and axioms (W3), (W4), and (H.E). We give some results on coinsidence and fixed-point theorems in symmetric spaces, and also, we give some examples for the ...

High fabrication tolerance and broadband silicon polarization beam splitter by point-symmetric cascaded fast quasiadiabatic couplers

open access: yesOSA Continuum, 2019
We propose a high fabrication tolerance and broadband silicon polarization beam splitter (PBS) by cascading point-symmetric 3-dB couplers designed using fast quasiadiabatic dynamics (FAQUAD).

Knots in the outer shells of the planetary nebulae IC 2553 and NGC 5882 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We present images and high-resolution spectra of the planetary nebulae IC 2553 and NGC 5882. Spatio-kinematic modeling of the nebulae shows that they are composed of a markedly elongated inner shell, and of a less aspherical outer shell expanding at a ...

Short-Term Wind Power Forecasting: A New Hybrid Model Combined Extreme-Point Symmetric Mode Decomposition, Extreme Learning Machine and Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yesSustainability, 2018
The nonlinear and non-stationary nature of wind power creates a difficult challenge for the stable operation of the power system when it accesses the grid.
