Biological evaluation of absorbent paper points

International Endodontic Journal, 1985
Summary. The biocompatibility of absorbent paper points was evaluated by a haemolysis test and a tissue culture agarose overlay test. One type of paper points produced marked haemolytic activity and a cytotoxic response in the overlay test. The other types tested showed minimal haemolytic activity and no cytotoxicity.

Shore Protection by Point-Absorbers

Civil Engineering in the Oceans VI, 2005
The capture of wave energy by point-absorber floats has been a popular topic in the wave-energy conversion field for more than two decades. Analysts have undertaken many studies devoted to the optimization of the absorbers and the prediction of their capture widths — the crest width from which the wave energy is supplied.

Research on the Performance of Point Absorber

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Rational exploitation of wave energy makes great contribution to relief the current global energy crisis. Power generation has been taken into the agenda as the main form to utilize wave energy. The point absorber in this paper is simplified to three modules: floater, pontoon and chain.

The validity of the virtual point detector concept for absorbing media

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2004
The concept of representing the detector volume by a virtual point detector in order to facilitate efficiency evaluations was proposed in the past for non-absorbing media. The validity of the model was expanded also to absorbing media present between the detector and a point source in front of it.

The Concept of a Bipartite Point Absorber

1986
A new wave power device is presented in the form of a bipartite point absorber. A simplified linear theory is used to demonstrate its satisfactory performance. An elaborate third-order theory however throws more light on the beneficial interactions between the composing parts, and on the strong nonlinear effects, which influence the power absorption in

Physical and mechanical properties of endodontic absorbent paper points

Journal of Endodontics, 1981
Sixty-six sizes of seven brands of endodontic absorbent paper points were evaluated to establish their physical and mechanical properties. A series of tests were to determine their dimensions (length, taper, tip diameter), absorbency, fiber-shedding propensity, and wet strength. A large variation in the properties exists between products and within any

The Localisation of Point Sources of Radioactivity in Absorbing Media

The British Journal of Radiology, 1956
The accurate localisation of a point source of radioactivity in an absorbing medium is frequently desirable and the theory has been developed by Mayneord (1950). The applicability of his formula to the localisation of small (“point”) sources of thorium in water has been tested by measuring the γ radiation from opposite sides of the container.

Bacterial Sampling by Absorbent Paper Points. An in vitro Study

Journal of Periodontology, 1991
This in vitro study was designed to test the hypothesis that sampling of bacterial suspensions by absorbent paper points would accurately reflect the proportion of the bacterial species whether they are homogeneously or non‐homogeneously distributed in the sample site.

Maximising absorbed energy using neuro-adaptive controller for heaving point absorbers

2018 5th International Conference on Renewable Energy: Generation and Applications (ICREGA), 2018
This paper presents a computation-friendly control approach to improve extracted power from sea waves with heaving wave energy converter. A Lyponov function based neuro-adaptive inverse controller is proposed for velocity tracking of the heaving buoy under resonance condition for maximum power transfer.

Numerical method for computing the power absorbed by a phase-controlled point absorber

Applied Ocean Research, 1982
In an irregular wave the phase of an oscillating point absorber can be continuously controlled by a computer-operated hold-and-release mechanism. A numerical method for computing the amount of power absorbed by such a phase-controlled device is presented and discussed.
