Dry–Hot Compound Events Driving the 2024 Pantanal Wildfires

International Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
Extreme wildfires in the Pantanal in 2024 were driven by a cascade of heatwaves, rainfall deficits and the absence of the annual flood pulse. These conditions dried soils and rivers, enhanced fuel accumulation and enabled early and intense fire outbreaks.

In this thesis, we did an in-depth review of the state of the art of 3D registration, evaluating the most popular methods. Given the lack of standardization in the literature, we also proposed a nomenclature and a classification to unify the evaluation systems and to be able to compare the different algorithms under the same criteria.

XStreamVGGT: Extremely Memory‐Efficient Streaming Vision Geometry Grounded Transformer With KV Cache Compression

XStreamVGGT enables memory‐efficient streaming 3D inference by jointly pruning and quantizing the KV cache. It reduces memory by 4.42× and accelerates inference by 5.48×, with negligible performance loss on depth, reconstruction, and pose estimation, overcoming the unbounded cache growth of StreamVGGT.
