Density Unbiased Point Estimates

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1954
A new concept of unbiasedness (density unbiasedness) for point estimates is introduced and the "best" density unbiased point estimate for the mean of any normal distribution is proved to be the ordinary sample mean $\bar{x} = \sum^n_{i = 1} x_i/n$. Under certain conditions on the form of the characteristic function of a family of probability density ...

Bridge estimation of the probability density at a point [PDF]

open access: yes
Bridge estimation, as described by Meng and Wong in 1996, is used to estimate the value taken by a probability density at a point in the state space. When the normalisation of the prior density is known, this value may be used to estimate a Bayes factor.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Launching Point Estimation Using Inverse First-Order Pitch Programming

open access: yesMathematics
This paper presents an estimation of the launching points of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with boosters. When UAVs are detected and tracked by sensors such as radars, the fast identification of vehicle launching points is needed for air ...
