Point Vortex Dynamics Influenced by the Surface Motion [PDF]

We study a coupled system of differential equations, which models the dynamics of fluid with a free surface and a point vortex in the body of the fluid. For long surface waves of small amplitude, the effects of the interaction between the waves and the point vortex are modeled within the framework of the Boussinesq regime.

A study of singularity formation in a vortex sheet by the point-vortex approximation

The initial-value problem for perturbations of a flat, constant-strength vortex sheet is linearly ill posed in the sense of Hadamard, owing to Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. Previous numerical studies of this problem have experienced difficulty in converging when the mesh was refined.
