Dynamics of vortices and drift waves: a point vortex model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
European Physical Journal B 86 (3), 1-14 (2013)International audienceThe complex interactions of localized vortices with waves is investigated using a model of point vortices in the presence of a transverse or longitudinal wave.

Hölder estimate for the 3 point-vortex problem with alpha-models

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2023
In this article we study quasi-geostrophic point-vortex systems in a general setting called alpha point-vortex. We study a particular case of vortex collapses called mono-scale collapses and this study gives the Hölder regularity for the $3$-vortex ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Dynamics and transport properties of three surface quasigeostrophic point vortices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The surface quasi-geostrophic (SQG) equations are a model for low-Rossby number geophysical flows in which the dynamics are governed by potential temperature dynamics on the boundary. We examine point vortex solutions to this model as well as the chaotic

Spatiotemporal optical vortex reconnections of loop vortices

open access: yesNanophotonics
Reconnections of spatiotemporal optical vortices have been shown to occur between line vortices. Here, we show that reconnections also occur between spatiotemporal loop vortices in optical waves. As optical loop vortices propagate in a media with spatial

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

The motion of a singular vortex near an escarpment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
McDonald (1998) has studied the motion of an intense, quasi-geostrophic, equivalent barotropic, singular vortex near an infinitely long escarpment. The present work considers the remaining cases of the motion of weak and moderate intensity singular ...

Hamiltonian Analysis of integrable point vortices in a circular domain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Using Hamiltonian methods, we analyze the motion of point vortices in a circular domain. We summarize the case with n =1 vortex and focus mainly on discussing the collapse of, and equilibrium solutions for, n=2 vortices. We also discuss results for n=3,

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.
