Rank-Poisson Transformation for Use with Count Data in Poisson Regression
Count outcomes are commonly analyzed using Poisson regression, but empirical data often exhibit overdispersion, excess ties, heaping, or other departures from the Poisson distribution. This paper evaluates a rank-Poisson transformation, denoted poisrank,

THE DISPLACED POISSON DISTRIBUTION
SummaryConsideration of the number of events in a Poisson process in excess of a threshold value r, when it is assumed that at least r events do occur, leads to the Displaced Poisson Distribution. The recurrence relationship between successive probabilities is a simple generalization of that of the Poisson distribution.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

A two‐dimensional multiscale finite element analysis framework was established for the first‐generation MoSiBTiC alloy, and the mechanical and fracture‐related parameters of the constituent phases were calibrated through experiments and simulations. The framework provides a basis for analyzing crack propagation behavior in its complex microstructure ...

Discriminant analysis involving count data [PDF]
A situation giving rise to a violation of the normality assumption in discriminant analysis is that which involves count observations. For a two-variable case involving count observations, this paper presents a new discriminant analysis approach when ...
