Uniform Deconvolution for Poisson Point Processes

open access: yes, 2020
We focus on the estimation of the intensity of a Poisson process in the presence of a uniform noise. We propose a kernel-based procedure fully calibrated in theory and practice. We show that our adaptive estimator is optimal from the oracle and minimax points of view, and provide new lower bounds when the intensity belongs to a Sobolev ball.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

The compound Poisson limit ruling periodic extreme behaviour of non-uniformly hyperbolic dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We prove that the distributional limit of the normalised number of returns to small neighbourhoods of periodic points of non-uniformly hyperbolic dynamical systems is compound Poisson.

Functional Connectivity Linked to Cognitive Recovery After Minor Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Patients with minor stroke exhibit slowed processing speed and generalized alterations in functional connectivity involving frontoparietal cortex (FPC). The pattern of connectivity evolves over time. In this study, we examine the relationship of functional connectivity patterns to cognitive performance, to determine ...

On Multiple-Access in Queue-Length Sensitive Systems

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, 2020
We consider transmission of packets over queue-length sensitive unreliable links, where packets are randomly corrupted through a noisy channel whose transition probabilities are modulated by the queue-length.

Stein's method and Poisson process approximation for a class of Wasserstein metrics

open access: yes, 2009
Based on Stein's method, we derive upper bounds for Poisson process approximation in the $L_1$-Wasserstein metric $d_2^{(p)}$, which is based on a slightly adapted $L_p$-Wasserstein metric between point measures.

A Prospective Study of Individuals at Risk of Multiple Sclerosis Informs the Design of Primary Prevention Studies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In multiple sclerosis, the optimal time for deploying a therapeutic intervention is before the central nervous system is damaged; given the success of trials treating the earliest stage of MS, the radiologically isolated syndrome, developing primary prevention strategies is an important next challenge.

Downlink Analysis in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Assisted Cellular Networks With Clustered Users

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operating as aerial base stations (BSs) has emerged as a promising solution especially in scenarios requiring rapid deployments (e.g., in the cases of crowded hotspots, sporting events, emergencies, and natural ...

Marked Long‐Term Improvement in Lung Function in Melanoma Differentiation–Associated Protein 5 Antibody–Positive Dermatomyositis Patients: Experience of a Single‐Center Longitudinal Cohort in North America

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The objective of this study was to describe the longitudinal disease course and pulmonary outcomes of North American patients with melanoma differentiation–associated protein 5 (MDA5) antibody–associated dermatomyositis (DM). Methods Thirty patients with MDA5 antibody–associated DM were identified in a single‐center longitudinal cohort of 352
